NHL Predictions Today: Odds, Picks & Best Bets for Friday, Oct. 9
I’m focusing on two matchups with my NHL predictions today for Friday’s slate. The New York Rangers head to the capital to face the Washington Capitals as I focus on Adam Fox and Tom Wilson’s assist props.
I’m also keen to jump on the Kyle Connor locomotive, as the Winnipeg Jets winger looks to tie Evan Bouchard for the league lead in goals.

Kyle Connor anytime goal (+120 via FanDuel)
Connor is enjoying a terrific start to the campaign. He has scored five goals in the first four games, four of which were in the previous three contests. Connor leads the league with 24 shots and is scoring 3.62 goals per 60 minutes, the third-most.
The Jets left winger has 2.4 goals above expected, the fifth-most. That stat shows how ruthless he's been in front of the net when a half-chance presents itself. While some will say he’s headed for a regression, which could also be true, I’m banking on him scoring his sixth of the season.

Connor scored a goal in two of the previous three meetings with the Ducks, and he netted in both home games thus far.

Tom Wilson Over 0.5 assists (+170 via FanDuel)
Wilson was at his best against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, scoring a goal and adding two helpers. He has three assists in three games, and the only game he didn’t register one was in Tampa on the second game of a back-to-back.
The Capitals have 13 goals in three games, scoring the seventh-most goals per game (3.67). Wilson has also enjoyed success recently against the Blueshirts, notching an assist in four of the previous five meetings, including two in a row.
And he's playing on a line with Alex Tuch, who has three goals in his first three games as a Cap.
Adam Fox Over 0.5 assists (+105 via bet365)
Fox has five assists in the previous four games. The opener against the Boston Bruins is the only game in which he didn't register an apple.
He has started the campaign in a similar vein to his Norris-winning season in 2021, and the Rangers are consistently threatening in the offensive zone.
They have scored 16 goals in their last four games, and Fox has three helpers in their last two meetings with the Capitals. If recent history is anything to go by, we could be in for goals galore, as the previous three meetings had 28 goals, for an average of 9.3 per game.
