I’m backing Dan Campbell’s team to cover the spread at home for the first time this season in my Jets vs. Lions prediction.

The Lions are the 6.5-point betting favorite for Sunday’s home game at Ford Field (1 p.m. ET, FOX), and I like their chances despite having one of the worst defenses through two weeks.

But the Lions aren’t the only team with issues, which I discuss as part of our NFL Week 3 predictions.

The Lions are 1-5 ATS at home in the last six games dating back to last season. However, the matchup against the Jets offers a perfect opportunity to buck that trend.

The Lions will be well-rested after playing on Thursday night, and they face a Jets team that probably isn’t as good as their 1-1 record indicates.

While the Lions almost lost after coughing up a 21-point lead at Ford Field in Week 1, the New Orleans Saints are inarguably better than most thought they’d be.

The Jets, meanwhile, blew a 10-point fourth-quarter lead at home in Week 2 against the subpar, injury-riddled Green Bay Packers. And nobody affiliated with the Jets will boast about their Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Jets defense vs. Lions offense

The Jets have the third-best DVOA and sixth-best EPA per play on the defensive side of the ball. However, they faced a subpar Titans offense in Week 1 and a tragically underperforming Packers attack last week.

The Lions, who scored 31 points in Weeks 1 and 2, will offer an altogether sterner challenge. And Detroit expects to have most of its starting offensive line available, excluding center Cade Mays.
