Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut was disappointing as she struggled to meet expectations, scoring 20 points but committing 10 turnovers. The Indiana Fever suffered a loss to the Connecticut Sun.

Now Clark aims to bounce back as the Fever face the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Liberty, favored by 6.5 points, will play the Fever on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET, with the game available for streaming on Prime Video.

Liberty vs. Fever predictions for Thursday

Fever 1H +3.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Through the first 15 minutes of Tuesday's opener, the Fever looked like a team that, frankly, hadn't played more than two preseason games together after drafting Clark less than a month earlier. They finally found their rhythm just before halftime and nearly made it a game in the third quarter before the Sun closed the door late.

I could see that momentum carrying into Thursday, especially with what should be a raucous crowd for Clark's home debut. She seemed to be learning in real time, too, and should have a better showing from the jump compared to her first-ever game.

I'm also a little skeptical of this version of the Liberty, who followed an eye-raising preseason with a rough first half Tuesday against the Mystics - the second-worst team by my WNBA power rankings entering the season. New York eventually pulled away, as I expect it to do again here, but I like Indiana's chances to keep it close early.

Fever Over 83.5 points ⭐⭐

This is another bet influenced by what seemed like Indiana's offense finding its rhythm in the midst of its first real-stakes game together. Clark finished with 20 points, and while she also had 10 turnovers, I'd be surprised if she doesn't figure out a better response for traps and double teams in her second try.

That would be a problem for the Liberty, whose perimeter defense is arguably the biggest weakness for last year's Eastern Conference champions. I thought they might have found the answer this offseason, but allowing a combined 34 points to Ariel Atkins (20) and Brittney Sykes (14) in the season opener isn't exactly an encouraging sign.

The Mystics finished Tuesday's loss with 80 points, and I like the Fever's offensive personnel quite a bit more, especially if Clark can shake off some rookie jitters in her home debut. That said, I wouldn't stake too much given these -120 odds, which represent an implied probability of 54.55% and pay out $8.33 on a $10 wager, per our odds converter.

Best odds: -120 via bet365

Fever win 1H, Liberty win game ⭐⭐

This is another bet where I wouldn't recommend staking too much, given the 15.38% implied probability of this wager and the overall risk of the "double result" market. The difference is this prop pays out $55 on a $10 bet if it cashes - and I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

As mentioned above, the Liberty fell behind by three points at halftime to an inferior Mystics team and trailed by eight through three quarters before a 26-point fourth quarter flipped the final result. I could see a similar showing against the Fever, who should be juiced early by the home crowd before the talent gap takes over late.
