The third major of the 2024 PGA Tour season will send golfers to Pinehurst No. 2 on Thursday for the opening round of the U.S. Open, and we’ve provided props picks based on the odds from our best golf betting sites, which have Scottie Scheffler valued as a heavy outright betting favorite.
Scottie Scheffler’s first win at The Memorial Tournament on Sunday has made the World No. 1 ranked golfer a massive betting favorite in the U.S. Open odds. He’s recorded five wins in 13 events this season, ranking top-five in all strokes gained metrics except putting.
Despite Scheffler’s incredible success, it’s going to be an uphill battle to win his second major at Pinehurst No. 2. Not only is this course a difficult track, with wire grass, sand, and native plants comprising most of the rough around the fairways, but it’s once again a loaded field with qualified players from the PGA Tour and LIV.
Pinehurst No. 2 last hosted the 2014 U.S. Open, so not a lot of the field has previous experience playing here. Those who do will encounter Bermudagrass replacing previous bentgrass greens, which remain contoured and flanked by bunkers. Water hazards are minimized at Pinehurst No. 2, but accuracy off-the-tee and on approach will go a long way in determining the winner at this lengthy par 70 course.

DeChambeau won the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club but has faltered a bit in recent outings, recording a T-20 finish at the Los Angeles Country Club last year, his best since posting the outright win four years ago. It’s time for him to contend for an outright major win once again, so expect to see DeChambeau’s name hovering near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon at Pinehurst No. 2. Top 20 Finishing Position: Keegan Bradley⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was an ugly finish for Keegan Bradley at Muirfield Village this past weekend but he’s one of the golfers in the field with prior experience playing in the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
Bradley finished T-4 at this event a decade ago, with a final scorecard of 1-over-par. This shows how difficult it can be to avoid bogeys and make birdies at this course. Bradley ranks 41st in strokes gained: approaching the green and 12th in total driving. These two aspects of his game should help him secure a top-20 finish by the end of the weekend.
If you’re still weary, know that before shooting 14-over-par in the final two rounds at Muirfield, Bradley had three consecutive finishes inside the top 25. This includes two finishes inside of the top 20 at Valhalla and Colonial. The value here is too good to pass up.

Tournament Matchup: Will Zalatoris vs. Cameron Young⭐⭐⭐
Two underachieving young stars are featured in a tournament matchup prop available at Caesars Sportsbook. According to our best sports betting sites, Will Zalatoris and Cameron Young are nearly a pick’em, with Young holding a slight edge in a 72-hole matchup at -120 odds.
Zalatoris may not be in top form, but his performance has been marginally better than what we’ve seen from Young in the past few events he’s played on the PGA Tour. After choking away a potential outright win at Valspar to Peter Malnati, which would’ve been the first of his career, Young has taken a nosedive, recording finishes of T-62, T-34, T-63, MC, and T-50.
Zalatoris has had a similar downturn; ironically, both players recorded T-9 finishes at The Masters. Zalatoris did fare better at the second major at Valhalla, recording a T-41 finish compared to a T-63 for Young. Both players are accurate drivers and can hunt flagsticks well, while Young is a better putter in comparison.
This is a three-star bet due to the volatility both players can produce at any given moment. However, historically speaking, Zalatoris has run circles around Young at U.S. Open events. This includes a T2 finish in 2022 at The Country Club, where Young missed the cut. We’re banking on Zalatoris to bring his A-game, but even if it’s another finish outside of the top 40, as long as Young continues to implode, we’ll cash this tournament matchup prop by backing Zalatoris at -110 odds.
