Iowa vs. Washington Prediction: Week 6 Odds, Picks & Best Bet
Last Updated: October 9, 2026 4:04 AM EDT • 2 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best Iowa vs. Washington prediction anticipates this being a low-scoring Big Ten battle. Both defenses enter this game performing well, but the offenses have consistently struggled throughout the season. Below, I explain why I support the Under, even though the total is set at just 41.5.
Washington is favored by 3 points over No. 20 Iowa ahead of tonight's 9 p.m. ET game at Husky Stadium in Seattle. The contest will air on FOX and stream on FOX One.

Under 41.5 (-110 via DraftKings)
Last week, Iowa allowed 31 points to Ohio State, as the secondary was torched by Jeremiah Smith. That performance doesn't worry me at all, because Washington doesn't have a receiver even remotely close to the caliber of Smith, and Iowa's defense is allowing an average of just eight points per game to all other opponents.
Washington has struggled this season, scoring just 26.6 points per game. Washington has only topped 24 points once, and that performance came against Eastern Washington, an FCS opponent. Washington is averaging just 6.04 yards per play, ranking 13th in the Big Ten, and its rushing attack has been essentially nonexistent, averaging just 3.68 yards per play.
Iowa has yet to score more than 20 points in three games against Power 4 opponents. Despite Washington's offensive struggles, the defense has been solid, allowing just 18.4 points per game.
📡 SBR Edge: Huskies facing stout Iowa defense
Washington is going to have a hard time staying on the field. Iowa has forced 71 third downs, which is tied for the second-most in the Big Ten. Washington has the worst third-down conversion rate in the Big Ten, succeeding on just 29.03% of attempts.
No reason to trust Iowa's passing attack
Iowa is averaging just 210.6 passing yards per game, which ranks 15th in the Big Ten. Even worse, Iowa is averaging just 6.6 yards per attempt, which ranks 17th in the Big Ten and 112th in the country.
Washington is allowing just 192.0 passing yards per game and 6.6 passing yards per attempt. With quarterback Hank Brown set to struggle again, Iowa's offense will become one-dimensional as it leans on Kamari Moulton. Moulton has averaged fewer than 4.0 yards per carry in three consecutive games. Washington is allowing just 3.2 yards per carry.
Score prediction: Washington 19 Iowa 17
