Week 3 USFL Player Power Rankings

QB Bryan Scott, Philadelphia Stars

The 26-year-old signal-caller leads the USFL in passing yards, completion percentage, and passing touchdowns, and he called his own number with a quarterback sneak in Week 2. Philadelphia has the third shortest odds to win the USFL Championship, and Scott has to be the primary reason why.

2. QB J’Mar Smith, Birmingham Stallions

The league’s QBR leader at 139.7, Smith has totaled 385 passing yards and three touchdowns while adding another 44 rushing yards and a score on the ground through three games. The hometown Stallions are 3.5-point underdogs against the New Orleans Breakers in Week 3, but Birmingham still boasts the second shortest odds to win the USFL Championship.

3. WR Osirus Mitchell, Birmingham Stallions

The Mississippi State product has eight receptions for 144 yards and a score in consecutive games to start the season. Mitchell has quickly established himself as a top wide receiver in the league and projects to play in the highest-scoring game in Week 3 with a total of 44.5.

4. QB De’Andre Johnson, New Jersey Generals

While Johnson continued to split snaps with fellow quarterback Luis Perez last week, Johnson’s dual-threat potential makes him one of the most exciting players in the league. He has rushed for 5.7 yards per carry with a touchdown through two games and added 107 passing yards.

5. WR Maurice Alexander, Philadelphia Stars

A breakout Week 2 consisting of eight receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets has Alexander on the rise. If the chemistry continues with quarterback Bryan Scott, Alexander could quickly establish himself as a top receiver in the league.

6. RB Mark Thompson, Houston Gamblers

Pacing the USFL in rushing yards (164) while averaging 5.7 yards per carry, Thompson has been one of the few clear No. 1 running backs in the league.

A Week 3 date with the Tampa Bay Bandits could prove to be a plus matchup, too. Tampa Bay has allowed 197 rushing yards through two games.

7. WR Bailey Gaither, Pittsburgh Maulers

Gaither is the lone bright spot for the 0-2 Maulers through two games. He paced the USFL in receiving yards in Week 2 with 117, and he now leads the league overall. Gaither also found the end zone last week. Pittsburgh is a 2.5-point underdog in Week 3 against the Michigan Panthers, and the Maulers have the longest odds in the league to win the championship.

8. QB Kyle Sloter, New Orleans Breakers

The Breakers are the betting favorites to win the USFL Championship and a 3.5-point favorite for their Week 3 matchup against the Birmingham Stallions. Sloter has been a solid game-manager for the Breakers with a single interception, and he hasn’t been sacked through two games.

9. WR Isaiah Zuber, Houston Gamblers

Another Mississippi State product cracks the list, as Zuber has found the end zone in consecutive games. Additionally, Houston quarterback Kenji Bahar also didn’t notice Zuber break coverage over the middle on what could have been a second Week 2 score. It’s worth adding that Zuber is also returning kicks for the Gamblers.

10. RB T.J. Logan Jr., New Orleans Breakers

Logan Jr. is ranking second in all-purpose yards after two weeks and finding ways to make a difference for the Breakers. The North Carolina product has 99 rushing yards, 67 receiving yards, and 115 kick-return yards, and he’s found the end zone twice on the ground.
