Chiefs vs. Eagles Game Preview  

The 2017 champion Eagles will match up with the 2019 champion Chiefs, as two African American quarterbacks will go head-to-head in the Super Bowl for the first time in NFL history. The Eagles (-122) are favored by 1.5 points over the Chiefs (+104), with the total set at 50.5.

Kansas City Chiefs 

The Chiefs have made the Super Bowl for the third time in the past four years and will search for their fourth championship in franchise history. They have won seven straight games and are coming off a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

Kansas City got their revenge on the Bengals after losing by three points in last year’s Conference Championship. Patrick Mahomes — who led the NFL in passing yards — threw for over 300 yards for the 11th time this season. He found Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the end zone for a second consecutive game, as the receiver recorded a season-high 116 yards. Travis Kelce scored for the third time this postseason after finishing the regular season second in receiving touchdowns. Kelce is the second most productive receiver in postseason history, ranking behind only Jerry Rice in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have reached the Super Bowl for the third time in the 21st century and are searching for their fifth championship in franchise history. They have dominated in the postseason thus far, coming off a 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and outscoring opponents by 55 points.

The Eagles have relied heavily on the running game, with all four touchdowns coming courtesy of the run this past game. Jalen Hurts passed for a season-low 121 yards but has now recorded 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. Despite only throwing the ball a limited amount (ranking outside the top 15 in passing attempts), Hurts has been efficient, ranking fifth in passer rating among starting quarterbacks. Top wideout A.J. Brown finished third in receiving touchdowns, and DeVonta Smith had the ninth most receiving yards in the regular season.

This will be the first playoff matchup in NFL history between the Eagles and Chiefs. Kansas City has won each of the past three matchups and holds a 5-4 record against Philadelphia lifetime. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Eastern time.
