Hip-hop superstar Drake is not shy about the spotlight and Toronto sports teams, so it should come as no surprise that he dropped big money on a wager for the Stanley Cup Playoff series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Drake wagered more than $400,000 that the first-round series would go to Game 7, and the bet cashed when Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point scored at 18:04 of overtime in Game 6, sending the series to the limit.

In what has been a very even series overall, the Maple Leafs are favored at home for Saturday’s Game 7 against the Lightning.

While Toronto has outscored Tampa Bay 23-21 through the first six games, the score-and-venue-adjusted 5v5 play on Natural Stat Trick has Toronto with 50.02% and Tampa Bay with 49.98% of the expected goals.

It does not get much closer than that, and apparently, Drake knew that a series this close would have to go the distance.

That has the Maple Leafs and Lighting facing off in One Dance for the chance to play the winner of the Florida Panthers-Washington Capitals series that the Panthers lead three games to two.
