The Chicago Bears became the latest team to sign a casino/sportsbook partnership thanks to a multi-year deal announced with home-town Rush Street Interactive, Inc. (RSI), operator of, and Des Plaines-based Rivers Casino. The Bears previously signed an official sports betting sponsor last September with PointsBet, but their latest deal brings both BetRivers and Rivers Casino into their fold.

“As a lifelong Bears fan, I am thrilled to have BetRivers and Rivers Casino partner with our hometown NFL team, the Chicago Bears, as the organization’s only Official Sportsbook and Casino Partner,” said Neil Bluhm, executive chairman & co-Founder of Rush Street Interactive and Rush Street Gaming, in a statement. “We look forward to expanding our relationship with the Bears and their dedicated fan base and offering innovative products and promotions as we remain committed to delivering a first-rate customer experience. This partnership also reinforces our commitment to hometown teams in states where we have our online and land-based sportsbooks.”

The Deal

For those that follow the legal sports betting industry in the US, the details of the Bears/BetRivers deal will come as no surprise. According to a press release, the sports betting operator will gain “a mix of prominent in-stadium signage, and digital, social and print assets,” as well as the opportunity to become a title partner of a free-to-play game on the team’s app via Verizon. It is said to be a multi-year deal.

Rush Street will also get the opportunity to offer unique promotions to Bears fans that use the BetRivers app. Bears merchandise and experiences will be offered up by the team to facilitate such promotions. Needless to say, the Bears are a good get for the betting provider and it should allow Rush Street to remain top-of-mind with bettors in Illinois.

For the Bears, it is all about exposure and the enhancement of their fans overall experience. BetRivers will work hard to promote the hometown Bears brand and make the absolute most of their Bears partnership.

“We are incredibly excited to announce BetRivers and Rivers Casino as our first multi-year exclusive partner in the Sportsbook and Casino categories,” said Bears President & CEO Ted Phillips. “We look forward to connecting with our fans in fun and unique ways through these avenues and couldn’t be prouder to be building this relationship with a hometown company.”

BetRivers Bets on Illinois

Illinois is Rush Street Interactives’ home base. They were the first high-end company to launch in Illinois with both a retail and mobile platform last year and haven’t looked back since. Their sports betting platforms have become the most successful in the state, despite all of the biggest providers in the industry having a strong presence there.

Illinois has quickly risen up the ranks of legal sports betting states since their launch, commonly landing within the top-5 on the list of the jurisdictions with the most month-to-month sports betting activity. It is expected that Illinois maintains its elite status and the Bears relationship will only help with that goal.

Just in Time for 2021 Season

Sports teams and betting providers are warming up for a 2021-2022 NFL season that promises to take the entire US legal sports betting scene to new heights. Lining up sponsorship deals ensures that all entities will be able to take advantage of what should be a ground-breaking year for not only the Illinois market the broad US scene.

For Rush Street Interactive, they align themselves with one of the most iconic sports franchises in America. For the Bears, they partner with an elite sportsbook brand that was named the 2020 Global Gaming Awards Digital Operator of the Year and the 2020 EGR North America Awards Casino Operator of the Year and Customer Service Operator of the Year.

It results in a win-win for all entities involved as markets search for new and exciting ways to maximize tapped and untapped sports betting potential.
