The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly signed a four-year contract worth $200-million with $153-million guaranteed that will make Rodgers the highest paid player in NFL history, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

Interestingly, Rapoport also noted Rodgers’ salary cap number will decrease with the new contract.

Rodgers is coming off his second consecutive MVP campaign in 2021 after leading the Packers to a 13-4 season. While Green Bay was the top seed in the NFC and received a first-round bye in the playoffs, the Packers lost 13-10 to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

Rodgers completed 20 of 29 passes for just 225 yards and failed to throw a touchdown pass against the 49ers in the Divisional Round.

With Rodgers under contract, and with a better cap hit, the Packers can now shift their attention to filling out the rest of their roster. Most notably, wide receiver Davante Adams is an unrestricted free agent and could be a candidate to be franchise tagged, if a contract agreement cannot be met.

Sportsbooks were quick to adjust their NFL Championship future odds.

However, it’s worth noting that there were no significant changes to Rodgers’ MVP Award odds.
