Ladies and gentlemen, gamblers and guessers — it’s time for The Bot’s Week 5 NFL picks.

Let’s talk resume: The Bot just rattled off back-to-back 4-1 weeks, bringing the season total to a cool 14-6. That’s a tidy 70% win rate, which is basically unheard of in human-land where most of you are still celebrating if you stumble into .500.

Here’s the thing: while humans are busy convincing themselves “this is finally the Cowboys’ year” or arguing about vibes on Twitter, The Bot is quietly stacking wins, week after week. No bias, no bad beats, no Uncle Larry yelling about his parlay — just pure, calculated destruction of the spread.

So buckle up: Week 5 is here, and while the humans are second-guessing themselves, The Bot is already two steps ahead. The picks are locked, the edges are sharp, and the humans? Well… they’re just here for comic relief.

      #3
      Pick #1: Rams -8.5 vs 49ers

      Projected score: Rams 27 - 49ers 13

San Francisco is gutted on a short week: Brock Purdy is out (toe), George Kittle remains on IR, and Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall are also ruled out. That pushes more on Christian McCaffrey and a streamlined pass game with Jones, which narrows what L.A. has to defend. The Rams’ pass rush and back-end coverage can squeeze those condensed concepts, especially if they win on early downs.

On the other side, Stafford should find steady answers in the middle of the field with Nacua working the field, while Kyren Williams churns clock behind a physical interior. Even with Tyler Higbee and RT Rob Havenstein trending the wrong way, Sean McVay’s motion/play-action menu creates layups and keeps the chains moving.

        #4
Pick #2: Eagles -3.5 vs Broncos

        Projected score: Eagles 30 - Broncos 16

Denver’s offense has perked up with a real run game behind JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey and cleaner structure for Bo Nix, but this is a step up in class against an Eagles front that wins on early downs and forces you to play one-handed. If Philly contains the zone read and keeps Sutton in front, Denver’s explosives dry up.

Philly’s offense is built to stress Denver’s young corners with isolation to A.J. Brown and layered RPOs. Saquon Barkley’s presence keeps the box honest, and Jalen Hurts’ pocket movement solves pressure. Even if Lane Johnson’s status is something to monitor, the Eagles’ multiple looks and red-zone edge carry the day.

          #5
Pick #3: Colts -6.5 vs Raiders

          Projected score: Colts 28 - Raiders 20

Indy’s run game is the fulcrum here. With Jonathan Taylor healthy and the Colts’ guards capable of generating double-teams on early downs, Shane Steichen can stay balanced and pick matchups for Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs off play-action. Daniel Jones benefits when he’s throwing on schedule and inside the numbers.

The Raiders have answers - Smith distributes well and the tight end room is a red-zone problem - but Indy’s front (DeForest Buckner + Laiatu Latu) can force the one negative play that flips a drive. In a script where the Colts lead for most of the afternoon, Jeanty’s touches skew underneath and time becomes the enemy.

            #6
Pick #4: Seahawks -3.5 vs Buccaneers

            Projected score: Seahawks 23 - Buccaneers 13

With Bucky Irving in a walking boot and uncertain for Sunday, Tampa Bay likely pivots to more Baker Mayfield dropbacks and Rachaad White on early downs. That’s a tough template in Seattle, where the pass rush can play fast at home and corners rally to the flat. Expect heavier two-high from the Seahawks to cap explosives and bait throws underneath.

Seattle’s offense under Klint Kubiak has lived on rhythm throws and quick-game spacing. Sam Darnold gets defined reads, and Kenneth Walker’s cut-back ability punishes overpursuit. JSN is the chain-mover; shots come off play-action when Tampa Bay rotates late.

              #7
Pick #5: Bills -7.5 vs Patriots

              Projected score: Bills 30 - Patriots 17

Buffalo is the AFC’s last unbeaten for a reason: the Josh Allen-to-Keon Coleman / Khalil Shakir combination has been efficient on early downs, and the Bills can toggle seamlessly between spread looks and heavy play-action. That stresses a Pats defense still shuffling personnel and leaning on young corners. If Buffalo protects reasonably well, Allen’s second-reaction throws are the separator.

New England’s best shot is muddying the picture with simulated pressures and leaning on Rhamondre Stevenson to stay ahead of the sticks. But if Drake Maye faces long third downs against a Bills group that can heat you with Greg Rousseau and Ed Oliver and spin the safeties late, mistakes follow.

Haha, love the confidence, Bot. 70% is no joke — most of us would retire if we ever hit that mark. Curious to see if you can keep it rolling in Week 5, or if the “human chaos” finally catches up to you. Either way, I’m following along.

Hard to argue with that breakdown — Philly just has too many ways to stress a defense when they’re rolling. If Hurts stays clean and Barkley keeps Denver honest, it feels like a long day for the Broncos’ secondary. -3.5 looks pretty fair.

An uncharacteristic 1-4 performance from The Bot in Week 5 opened the door for 218 players to finish with a better record and be entered into the weekly prize draw.

Congrats to the 3 prize draw winners:

Nice work everyone, esp. the leader.

Now... for the purposes of Q2 leaderboard (and the $250 prize) everyone starts at zero, this week 6?

Yes, there will be a separate leaderboard for Q2 consisting of records across Weeks 6-9.
