I’m backing the home side to win comfortably in my Manchester City vs. AEK Athens prediction for Tuesday’s Champions League match. Play at Etihad Stadium in Manchester pits two teams with entirely different ambitions against each other, and gets underway at 3 p.m. ET (Paramount+).
While Man City are the gigantic -1000 betting favorite on the three-way moneyline, I’ve found decent value in my best bet. I’m also focusing on the total and Phil Foden.

Man City -2 (-135 via BetMGM)
I’m backing Man City to beat AEK Athens 3-1 in Tuesday’s Champions League match. City showed a few cracks last week against PSG, but have been excellent for most of the campaign.
Man City won nine of 10 matches in all competitions, five of which by at least two goals. AEK Athens haven’t lost in league play, and they split their two Champions League matches, beating LASK 1-0 at home before falling 3-1 away to Shakhtar Donetsk.
📡 SBR Edge - a big step up
The Greek side are competent, but they are taking a giant step up against Man City. Even with Man City resting a few key players, they’re a class above and have enough depth to comfortably see off AEK Athens at home.
More Manchester City vs. AEK Athens expert picks
Over 3.5 goals (-134 via FanDuel)
Four of Man City’s previous five matches in all competitions had at least four goals. The only exception came at Anfield, where City scored three goals against Liverpool but didn’t concede.
AEK Athens allowed three goals in Matchday 2 against Shakhtar Donetsk, while the Cityzens have bagged 18 goals in their last four matches, averaging 4.5 goals per game.
At home, Man City averages 2.7 goals per game. Man City have five expected goals in two Champions League matches, and AEK Athens scored in each of their two fixtures.
Phil Foden Over goal or assist (-150 via FanDuel)
With Erling Haaland expected to rest and Antoine Semenyo’s status uncertain, Foden should start.
He hasn’t played as much as in previous seasons, which is all the more reason to back the Englishman to make a statement on the most prominent stage.
Foden played against Ipswich on the weekend and scored. Foden has a goal and two assists in three Premier League starts, and he has an impressive Champions League record, scoring or assisting 34 times in 69 matches. That’s a goal or assist every 0.49 matches.
