College football player props for Week 1 are still inconsistently offered, with so many teams playing FCS opponents, not to mention sportsbooks being unwilling to expose risk on unknown Group of Six rosters.

But looking carefully for the weekend can yield value, like in the Apple Cup, where Washington State’s entire offense is being undervalued, and at Lambeau Field, where No. 4 Notre Dame’s defense deserves more credit.

Kirby Vorhees anytime touchdown (+165 via DraftKings)

When suddenly and unexpectedly needing a head coach this winter, the Washington State Cougars hired Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore. And in doing so, Washington State may have quickly become an entertaining watch this season.

Moore developed the likes of Ahmed Hardy, Luther Burden, and Brady Cook while with Missouri. Expect similar volume with the Cougars in due time, starting with running back Kirby Vorhees.

That faith alone justifies seeing value in this prop pick, as does remembering Vorhees scored a touchdown in five of Washington State’s last seven games as a freshman, a stretch effectively starting when he took on a primary role in the offense.

Noah Kim Over 258.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel)

The San Jose State Spartans really glossed up the scoreboard in Week 0, losing to No. 14 USC by “only” 16 points, 42-26. That game was 35-3 heading into the fourth quarter. Let’s be more blunt about how ugly it was.

It was that ugly in large part because USC quarterback Jayden Maiava went 25-of-29 for 286 yards against a defense returning no starters from 2025 before the Heisman hopeful took an early rest.

Eastern Michigan quarterback Noah Kim has no Heisman hopes, but he could be one of the most prolific passers in the Group of Six this season. And his experience should drool at the tape Maiava left him against the Spartans’ inexperienced defense, not to mention Kim should play all four quarters.

Colton Joseph Under 151.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel)

After an abysmal first three games under defensive coordinator Chris Ash, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defense climbed to No. 6 in expected points added per opposing dropback last season, turning passing plays into negative plays for opponents.

The Wisconsin Badgers offense already struggles in that regard. It could become a liability on Sunday night in Green Bay.

While Wisconsin is likely to trail by a bounty, that fate will also worsen with each Colton Joseph dropback. Expect Badgers head coach Luke Fickell to lean on a conservative offense both in hopes of improving optics and in improving Wisconsin’s slim chances at winning.
