LeoVegas Sportsbook Summary

LeoVegas has gone to great lengths to cater to the Canadian market recently. From becoming a fully regulated sportsbook in Ontario to the numerous ads on television, it’s clear they see the potential in the Canadian sports betting market.

The sportsbook at LeoVegas offers numerous ways to wager on whichever market you choose. Here are some of the top sports available to bet on at LeoVegas:

NFL Betting

The NFL is well represented at LeoVegas. In addition to the usual moneyline, point spread, and total markets, bettors can bet on a whole host of other outcomes like first to 10 points, quarter, first half, and second half ML and spreads, plus player receiving, rushing, and anytime touchdown scorers.

Their futures market is robust, with the option to bet on division winners, conference winners, and the Super Bowl winner, in addition to individual player awards such as MVP and Comeback Player of the Year. You can even bet on the total number of wins and if a team will make the playoffs during the regular season.

NBA Betting

LeoVegas has plenty of options to bet on the NBA. From ML, spread, and over/unders to increasingly popular player props. If game wagering isn’t your thing, LeoVegas has you covered with the option to bet on player awards, O/U on team wins during the regular season, and you can even wager on the end-of-season leading scorer, rebounds leader, and 3-pointers made per game leader.

College Football

For some Ontario die-hards, college football is essential for a sportsbook, and LeoVegas does its best to offer it. All major NCAA Division I FBS games are available, with the option to bet on the outright winner, point spreads, and O/U for each game. Like other sportsbooks, there are few options for individual player props, and its futures options are restricted to conference winners and Heisman winner.

While perhaps not a priority compared to other sports, LeoVegas still has a decent amount of college basketball once the season properly starts in November. You can plan to find more action here once March Madness tips off. The offering doesn't quite rival those of competitors like BetMGM, DraftKings or PointsBet, but it's strong nonetheless.

NHL Betting

Ontarians love their hockey, and LeoVegas knows that with its impressive selections of NHL bets to choose from. Everything from same-game parlays, goal scorers, multi-goal scorers, player shots, player points, and period props. You can even bet on “pre-packs,” which are essentially same-game parlays of the most popular bets for that game.

MLB Betting

The MLB is treated with the respect it deserves at LeoVegas. You will be able to not only bet on ML, run line, and total runs but also player props like hits, runs scored, total bases, and home runs. You can also bet on pitcher props and, like their NHL options, can create your own same-game parlay.

Other Sports Leagues

As a global sports betting provider, LeoVegas offers various sports betting markets to choose from. From A-Z, these include Australian Rules football, boxing, cricket, cycling, cyclo-cross, darts, eSports, floorball, Formula 1, golf, greyhounds, handball, horse racing, jai alai, motorsports, rugby league, rugby union, snooker, soccer, squash, table tennis, tennis, trotting, volleyball, and winter sports. In addition, you can bet on hockey and basketball leagues overseas.

Its soccer betting options are almost limitless, which is no surprise given that LeoVegas operates in numerous countries where the sport is a big draw. At LeoVegas, you have the option to bet on the major European leagues like the Premier League and La Liga, plus on leagues from South America and Africa.

They have also branched into sports sponsorships, becoming the Official Betting Partner in Europe and Canada of Premier League powerhouse Manchester City. It has previously signed shirt sponsorship deals with Brentford and Norwich partnered with Italian soccer team A.S. Roma as its Online Infotainment Partner.

Website Experience

I found that the website experience is where LeoVegas lags behind compared to other sportsbooks available to Ontario bettors.

The colours on the desktop website is a drab white, orange, and grey scheme that looks very boring and uninteresting. The sportsbook is not even shown when you first get on the site as it shows casino options — you have to click the “Sports” button in the top right of the page to get there.

While a few live games are shown once you land, you then have to click the “Browse sports” button on the top right to even show games that aren’t currently ongoing. You can favourite up to 10 different leagues, but the games are still awkwardly displayed on the right-hand side.

Once you manage to find the sport you’re looking for, the layout is standard for a sportsbook if a bit plain. There’s no bolded text, and no differentiation between the odds, start time, and team names. It really feels like the design of the sportsbook was an afterthought.

Mobile Betting and Betting App

LeoVegas’s mobile app unfortunately suffers from many of the issues that their website does. It can be initially hard to find games that are not currently live, and the design is still the same uninteresting white, orange, and grey colour scheme.

Live Betting

The live betting at LeoVegas is great. You’ll be able to live bet on any game in progress from baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, even esports. The default feature is sorted by “top” which features popular games currently ongoing, but you can easily sort by sport. The mobile app also offers a smooth and seamless way to live bet on game that mimics the website well.

Casino, Poker, & Other Gaming Options

LeoVegas puts a lot of effort into its casino offerings, which shows by the sheer number of options at your disposal. It has more than 2,000 different slots to choose from, along with 10 game shows and 35 different table games. Its live casino is not to be outdone, with 28 roulette tables, 29 blackjack tables, 19 baccarat tables, three poker options, and 23 game shows. 

You can search by game type and provider, but unfortunately, there’s no option to sort by a minimum bet or other similar categories.

LeoVegas was founded in 2012 by Gustaf Hagman and Robin Ramm-Ericson in Sweden as a mobile-first online gaming platform, rapidly growing as a result of focusing on this platform.,

It started its sports betting platform in 2016 and has grown to a large-scale provider since, primarily servicing Nordic countries, the UK, and Europe. It acquired licenses in Italy in 2017, Germany in 2018, and was among the first companies to gain a license in its home country of Sweden in 2018.

Bettors have very strong opinions on LeoVegas, both positively and negatively.

It currently has a 4.3 out of five-star rating on the Apple App Store with 470 reviews, but just a 3.6 rating out of five on Google Play on approximately 3,180 reviews. Bettors enjoy the wide variety of casino and table games, the fair odds at their sportsbook, and the app that is fast loading and smooth compared to using a mobile browser. Casual or new bettors might know them as the Official Betting Partner in Europe of Manchester City.

Common complaints include trouble withdrawing funds, both LeoVegas taking a long time to complete the withdrawal, issues verifying location, and trouble verifying their accounts with relevant identification.

Why Choose LeoVegas?

LeoVegas has a lot of potential. It’s a global gambling provider with the resources to produce a great sports betting product.

However, the current sportsbook feels like an afterthought compared to its casino offerings. Type its name into Google and it shows as an “Online Casino.” It appears as such on the App Store and Google Play, with its one-line description in the search just lists “slots, roulette, and live casino.” Go to its homepage, and you’ll be forgiven if you think you’ve gone to the wrong site with a focus on all its casino offerings.

There are enough complaints with withdrawals, in fact, on both the App Store and Google Play that bettors may need to exercise caution when initially using LeoVegas. Finally, its average odds on its major markets do not make up for its basic and characterless design on both its website and mobile apps.

Their very generous welcome bonus perhaps makes up for that for some, but new bettors may want to start with other sportsbooks such as bet365 or FanDuel – experienced bettors looking for another sportsbook to line shop will find it gets the job done.
