They are NOT a regulator. They have no powers. They are simply supposedly an independent arbitrator in betting disputes between players and bookies.

You may just as well complain that the RSPCA, Red Cross or the weather bureau provide no assistance in getting your money back from Canbet.

I know plenty of people in the UK who waited for months to be paid last year, via my Twitter handle (@crookbooks). I'm sure many of them would be happy to sign the petition. Also, for those of you who do use twitter, please follow me and we can try to ensure as many customers from around the world are made aware of this SBR thread. For those of you who use Facebook, please spread the word.

The responsibility for gambling regulation in the UK (including the Gambling Commission) falls under the Department of Culture, Media & Sport. The minister is the Rt Hon Maria Miller MP and her opposite number is the Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP. The business of the department is scrutinised by the Select Committee for Culture, Media & Sport, chaired by John Whittingdale MP. It might be worth emailing any of these. (I would post links but including some in my first post got me banned as a suspected spammer! However if you google 'Department of Culture, Media & Sport' it should give you the necessary details.)

This is probably obvious to everyone but you should be reporting your entire Canbet balance here as the amount owed to you, not just the amount of a pending withdrawal that you have been waiting for.

I can't accept this attitude at all.

Letting criminals get away with defrauding players only permits them to return in another entity to repeat their crime. It also encourages others to try the same stunt if they see perpetrators getting away with it.

the majority of people who run these books are scumbags ....you deal with shiit sometimes you get shiit on....its the same risk as flying in a plane or crossing the street....sometimes the plane crashes.......its an inheritant possibly.....there is always a possibility a book will fold.......commission/regulated or not....

The directors have given us a broken link to access the Delta Corp website.

You can still access the Delta Corp website via the wayback engine using the following link :-

Boston - shouldn't you be reading a book or something instead of imparting your "wisdom" in here? Perhaps a dose of your own advice wouldn't go astray. You obviously weren't allegedly defrauded to the tune of thousands of dollars/euros/pounds.

    Exactly my point.
Let the bastards get away with it and this will just continue.
You need to be careful when choosing books to play at.
I'd never trust places like BetIslands and 99.9% of the delisted books.
Canbet is somewhat different. They have a long history, firstly being licensed in Australia and then the UK. Both jurisdictions where players have good reason to believe that the regulatory environment offers them more protection. Sadly it seems now that the UK isn't as safe as many of us might have believed.
You're probably right that the money's all gone but that's no reason to just adopt your "don't worry" attitude. Make somebody pay for the crime. Lobby hard for improved regulation and control.

Indeed, dodgy behaviour seems entrenched in this industry. I won't disagree. But rather than just accepting that this is the way it is, I think it's about time some steps (no matter how small) were taken to clean things up. Remember, these guys were licensed in the UK, not some backwater. And the parent company 'iGas Group' should have abided by the rules of Australian company law, like any other. Or perhaps not?

By the way, customers were not the only people affected here. Affiliates, staff and (in my case) consultants.

The money might not come back but the whole point is that these guys have legal options to pursue their cash whereas those who bet in CR don't. I jumped in this thread when the issue had already been going on for months as I'd been away from SBR during that time and because no one else was able to visit their offices, I did. I honestly expected to find they had disappeared; instead they had the balls to set up a new company in the exact same office with the exact same website "allegedly" planning to do the exact same thing but with a Phillipines license this time. All while claiming to be solvent. This unfortunately doesn't matter in CR but in Australia this is illegal and you face having to pay what you owe people + heavy fines and up to 5 years in prison. To make it worse, the GC assured people this 20yr old book was solvent so people continued to deposit there believing a friggen govt body was on top of it. This isn't a forum trying to best advise people on what books are decent or not... it's a tax-payer funded regulatory body. We've managed to get Peter and Graeme to come out of hiding twice now in the past week, there's already been one article in one of the largest Aussie papers with more to come and on tv. Things are finally happening and the media attention is increasing each time I check my email and phone so to give up now would be ridiculous.

Yet another indiscretion by the directors of Canbet:

"Canbet are not approved to publish and use Victorian thoroughbred race fields and appear to have been in breach of Victorian race fields legislation prior to their recent trading suspension.

They have been paying no returns to the Victorian racing industry for the use of our product, nor were they complying with our integrity requirements as approved wagering operators are obligated to do."
