Virginia State Police trooper suspended following arrest on rape charges

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Virginia State Police officer has been suspended without pay following his arrest earlier this week on felony charges.

Derrick Thompson was arrested February 4 after being indicted by a Charlotte County Grand Jury. Thompson has been charged with one felony count of rape, one felony count of sodomy and one felony count of object sexual penetration.

According to Virginia State Police, the agency’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Richmond Field Office initiated an investigation after an incident was reported to state police in September 2020.

Officials would not disclose details of that investigation. They report Thompson was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.

Virginia State Police hired Thompson in October 2007. In 2011 he was assigned to the Area 23 Office, which includes Charlotte and Halifax Counties.

Thompson will remain suspended without pay pending the outcome of the judicial process.

Drunk Cop Gets His Car Airborne, Crashes Into Home, Injuring 2 People, Killing Dog — Not Fired

Philadelphia, PA — Imagine for a moment, that your job is to prosecute those who dangerously drive drunk and cause harm to others. Now, imagine that you betrayed that job by dangerously driving drunk, crashing, and causing severe harm to others. Everyone would likely agree that such an egregious violation of one’s job description would lead to your immediate termination from said job. However, if you are Philadelphia Police Department Officer Gregory Campbell, that is not the case.

Saturday night, Campbell — whose job consisted of pulling people over and arresting them for driving under the influence — was driving under the influence. During this drive, Campbell lost control of his vehicle, causing it to go airborne around 8:20 p.m.

Campbell’s car would then come to a stop when it crashed into the home occupied by a 45-year-old man, a 53-year-old woman, and their two dogs. The man was thrown against the wall breaking several bones as the woman was pinned under the car, unconscious, and severely injured.

A neighbor across the street heard the crash and came rushing out and began digging through the rubble to help the woman pinned under the car.

“I was in the kitchen and I heard what sounded like an explosion,” said neighbor Martin Brown, who lives two doors down.

Brown said another bystander who witnessed the crash pulled over and made sure that Campbell couldn’t flee the scene as he suffered only a minor cut to his head.

“He was screaming that his wife was stuck underneath of the car and that he needed to move the car in order to get to her,” said Brown.

The two men dug through the rubble to find the 53-year-old woman.

“He dropped to his knees. He was petting her hair, telling her he was there and, ‘It’s going to be alright,'” Brown told WPVI.

One of the couple’s dogs was also killed in the crash.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition fighting for her life.

Campbell was administered blood alcohol test while being treated for the cut on his head and he was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, aggravated assault and related crimes.

“The consequences of choosing to drive while under the influence are enormous, and all too often, life-changing,” said Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. “A family should always feel safe in their home, and yet the actions of this individual shattered that reality. The fact that the offender, in this case, is a Philadelphia Police Officer is appalling. Police Officers must be held to a higher standard – even while off-duty – and I assure the victims and the public that a complete and thorough investigation will take place. My prayers remain with this family.”

As WHYY reports, it’s unclear what, if any, consequences Campbell could face on the job. The PPD did not immediately respond to questions about pending disciplinary actions against the officer or to questions about the circumstances that led to the crash. The Fraternal Order of Police declined to comment on those questions.

When asked if the officer would be fired, the police union chose not to answer, instead sending “thoughts and prayers” to the victims and their family.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and hope those injured will make a full recovery,” FOP President John McNesby said. “This is an unfortunate incident and we continue to monitor the investigation.”

Cops not being fired for incidents like this one is not that uncommon. As TFTP reported a cop in Baton Rouge, LA was driving nearly 100 mph, off duty, when he smashed into a car, killing a baby. That officer didn’t even get a speeding ticket. He is still a cop too.

After Escaping Jail the First Time, Fmr. DARE Cop Arrested AGAIN for Making Child Porn

Rush County, IN — For those who doubt the existence of blue privilege and the ability of cops to escape accountability for unspeakable crimes, the following case should serve as proof it is real. When an officer of the law is caught exploiting and abusing society’s most vulnerable — children — and they can escape any significant jail time, this is definitive proof of blue privilege. Former officer Cale Worley shows the dangers of such privilege, as child predators, regardless of a badge, don’t normally strike just once.

In 2013, then-Rushville Police officer Worley, was arrested after he was caught having an “inappropriate” relationship with a child. The female juvenile was a student in the district where Worley served as the DARE officer, visiting multiple schools around the county.

After hearing his niece talk about her relationship with the school DARE cop, the uncle of the girl reported it to the police. Worley was subsequently arrested on charges of felony official misconduct (class D felony) and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (class A misdemeanor) in February 2013.

In March of 2013, Worely pleaded guilty to all the charges but was never sent to jail. Instead, Worley was stripped of his credentials and certifications to be a police officer and EMT in Indiana.

Worely had tested the system’s limits when it came to his blue privilege, and he won. For a child predator, this was music to his repeat offending ears. Fast-forward to 2020 and yet another investigation was launched into Worely’s conduct.

This time, the allegations were far worse as the crimes involved an extremely young child. Worely is accused of using the girl to make his own child sexual exploitation material, otherwise known as child porn.

According to the indictment released by the United States District Court Southern District of Indiana, as reported by Greensburg Daily News, Worley used and attempted to use a minor (a female under 12 years of age) to engaged in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depiction of such conduct.

The indictment stated around March of 2020, Worley also knowingly possessed and accessed material containing child pornography. The indictment mentions Worley possessed 22 files of images or videos, including one or more files of a minor under 12 years of age.

This time around, Worely’s charges are far more grim and the single charge of sexual exploitation of a child comes with a maximum of 30 years in prison. The charge of possession of child pornography comes with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Hopefully he serves every day of these sentences if convicted.

This case illustrates several points. The first point being that cops, more often than not, escape accountability for crimes against society’s most vulnerable.

The second point is that cops who don’t face accountability for their previous criminal behavior, will almost always strike again, knowing they can get away with it. Because Worley was not properly punished the first time, he was allowed to strike again and this time his victim was younger and experienced far greater abuse than his first victim.

Sadly, there is a pattern of police officers getting caught preying on children, raping women, and committing other unspeakable crimes—and never going to jail.

Previously, TFTP reported on the case of California Highway Patrol lieutenant Stephen Robert Deck who was given probation for attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old in 2006. The officer was caught in an undercover sting operation set up by police to catch pedophiles in the act of trying to have sex with kids. Unlike most of the other 12 defendants in the case, who were sentenced to at least one year in prison, Deck was afforded probation simply because he wore a badge.

Although every other person caught in the same sting received jail time, Deck’s badge apparently granted him special privilege. What’s more, this child predator was allowed to keep his taxpayer-funded medical retirement. And we call this “justice” in the land of the free.

Selective enforcement of the law by this low IQ order follower. The copsplaining by this pig to justify his fellow blue line gang members breaking the law is pathetic. Rules for you, but not for blue.

Cop Busted Selling Fentanyl to School Children, While On Duty, From His Cruiser

Harrington, ME — When parents of children at Narraguagus Jr/Sr High School in Harrington, Maine saw officer Jeffrey Bishop’s car parked in front of the school, they likely felt secure knowing that a cop was “protecting” their children. But Bishop was protecting no one. Instead, he was selling them deadly fentanyl.

Bishop, 53, of Cherryfield is charged with four counts of aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, as well as one count of unlawful trafficking in Schedule W drugs. Under Maine law, Schedule W drugs are amphetamines, cocaine and its derivatives, heroin and similar opiates, and other drugs that are considered the most harmful.

Before he was arrested, likely knowing it was coming, Bishop submitted his resignation on January 12, 2021, and his last day of employment was Jan. 30.

News Center Maine reports that according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA), the charges are aggravated due to alleged trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school and alleged furnishing of the drugs to a minor.

“We are very surprised and concerned about the allegations against Mr. Bishop, as we are well aware that if they are proven, this is not just a black eye to our department but to all of law enforcement,” Bishop’s department said in a press release. “We believe that all law enforcement officers must be held to a higher standard to keep our justice system above reproach.”

The investigation was launched after police busted a minor at the school who was in possession of multiple pills of hydrocodone and around 800 milligrams of fentanyl. According to the CDC, just 3 milligrams of fentanyl is enough to kill an average size adult male. This cop had no problem giving a child over 250 lethal doses of the drug.

Sylvia Moores, an adult customer of Bishop’s, was also arrested. She would later tell investigators Bishop would pick her up on duty and exchange sexual favors for drugs. According to court records, Moores met up with Bishop at least seven times to exchange sexual favors for pills and fentanyl. Each visit happened in his patrol car and netted the woman 20-25 pills according to investigators.

“This investigation revealed that he had been exchanging hydrocodone pills with the state’s witness for sexual favor,” State Assistant Attorney General John Risler said.

    According to MCN,

"On February 5, court documents report the brown powder found in possession of the hydrocodone pills was identified as fentanyl.

The investigation led to Bishop’s arrest at around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5. Bishop was arrested without incident in Harrington with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff‘s Office and the Maine State Police Department.

Agents subsequently served a search warrant at Bishop’s Cherryfield home Friday evening, where agents said they seized additional evidence of drug trafficking, including 110 hydrocodone pills not prescribed to Bishop. The pills were found inside his police duty bag according to the court documents."

Biship was booked into Aroostook County Jail and was released on a $50,000 cash bond.

“I don’t see him as a flight risk,” Jeffrey Toothaker, Bishop’s attorney, said. “In fact, it seems that he’s probably going to have to go home and rethink his life.”

While the Free Thought Project doesn’t believe that any drugs should be illegal, we definitely don’t feel that children should be given these drugs. When a law enforcement officer is caught betraying the trust of the community and giving children lethal doses of a drug that kills tens of thousands of Americans every year, that officer deserves to be held accountable to the fullest extent.

Police Chief, Mayor, Others Arrested for Running Theft Ring, Carrying Out Violence for Cash

Armstrong, IA — The people of Armstrong, Iowa have apparently been the victims of a top-down violent theft scandal run by the mayor, the police chief, and two others. Now after holding the town hostage for years, four of the ring leaders from this small Iowa town are behind bars.

Starting Friday afternoon, three city officials, including Mayor Greg Buum, City Clerk Tracie Lang and former City Clerk Connie Thackery were arrested on more than two dozen criminal charges filed by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.

On Saturday, Armstrong, Iowa police chief Craig Merrill was taken into custody in Martin County, Minnesota. Exactly why Merrill was in Minnesota and not Iowa at the time of his arrest was unclear. However, he may have attempted to make a run for it. He is currently waiting in the Martin County jail for extradition back to Iowa.

“Mayor Greg Buum, police chief Craig Merrill, city clerk Tracie Lang, and former city clerk Connie Thackery were charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses in a 21-count joint trial information approved by the Emmet County District Court,” the Emmet County Sheriff’s said in a statement.

The investigation into the corrupt group of politicians and top cop has been underway for several years. As they were at the top of the political pyramid in the small town, they likely made it extremely difficult for anyone to go after them. They were also unafraid of carrying out alleged violence to maintain this power.

According to a release from the Attorney General’s Office, the charges were filed on Feb. 11 after a multi-year investigation uncovered allegations of theft, felonious misconduct in office, tampering with records, assault with a dangerous weapon and falsifying public records.

Apparently these people were accepting bribes to enact violence against citizens. According to the release, one of the defendants — it wasn’t immediately clear which — deployed a Taser on a civilian in exchange for cash.

Buum, Merrill and Thackery face a top charge of ongoing criminal conduct – a Class B felony. Lang’s top rap is fraudulent practice in the first degree – a Class C felony.

The group is also accused of falsifying the accounting ledgers to conceal the theft of money from the citizens of Armstrong.

TFTP was contacted by a resident of this small town, who told us about this story. They explained this has been an ongoing problem for years, and no one has been able to touch these folks because of their positions of authority. That has all changed now.

As the four alleged criminals have connections in the county, their prosecution is now being handled by state officials to prevent further conflicts of interest.

WATCH: Cops Walk up to Man and Beat him, then Arrest him for Assault on Officer

Four cops from the Paterson Police Department in New Jersey are under investigation for the beating of Osamah Alsaidi.

New Jersey cops claim there is existing video proving a 19-year-old man stormed up to them screaming profanities before attacking them which is why they had to beat him and charge him with aggravated assault on an officer.

But the only video that has surfaced so far shows it was the officers who walked up to the teen and beat him without provocation.

As for the other video that supposedly supports the police version, all we know is that an unidentified "police source" told local media that it exists.

But if it did exist, we probably would be watching it now.

Instead, we can only watch the video posted to Instagram Monday by Osamah Alsaidi, who said he was attacked as he walked to his car to go to work shortly after midnight on December 14, 2020.

The video contradicts statements from the police report including that they tried their best to ignore Alsaidi as he was “screaming profanities and acting belligerent causing a disturbance."

They say he then got into "an aggressive fighting stance by blading his body and clutching his fist" before attacking a cop by punching him in the chest and trying to take his radio which resulted in police placing the teen in a "compliance hold," the police report states.

None of the cops were wearing body cameras, according to NJ.com:

"The altercation occurred about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 14, 2020, when police were called to a report of a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Madison Avenue, according to a police report.

Osamah Alsaidi, of Paterson, claims he was walking from his home to his car “to go to work” when Paterson police officers approached “and started punching me for no reason.”

“They throw me to ground (and) they kept smashing my head on the ground, causing me to black out for a moment,” Alsaidi said in an Instagram post on Friday that has been viewed more than 17,000 times.

Alsaidi posted security video from a neighborhood business that shows the officers walk up and repeatedly strike him with their fists.

A police source told NJ Advance Media on Monday that the video Alsaidi posted to his Instagram account was not the only security video of the incident and that other video exists to back up the officer’s report."

Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale confirmed an internal affairs investigation was launched but offered no more detail.

Meanwhile, Alsaidi was very descriptive and detailed in his version of the events which he posted along with the video Monday, naming the four cops along with their photos, identifying them as Kevin Patino, Marcos Martinez, Bishnu McKnight and Kendry Tineo.

"I was walking on my block towards my car to go to work then Paterson Police officers pulled over to block me from walking with their car. Kevin Patino (Badge #4900) and Marcos Martinez (Badge #Unknown) came out of the car and started punching me for no reason. They throw me to ground, Kendry Tineo (Badge #4891) came, and they kept smashing my head on the ground, causing me to black out for a moment. They arrested me and charged me with AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER, RESISTING ARREST, and DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

While arrested, Officer Bishnu McKnight (Badge #4971) took me to the hospital and I told the nurse how I got my injuries. McKnight made them discharge me from the hospital before they can even look at me injuries. While trying to get back into the police car, which is hard to do with handcuffs and shackles on, McKnight punched me, threw me into the car, and slammed the door. After I was released, I had to go to the hospital on my own and I was diagnosed with head trauma and concussion (I have the papers from the hospital). I was having migraines and was partially blind for the next couple of weeks. I picked the police report and Kevin Patino (Badge #4900) and Kendry Tineo (Badge #4891) wrote a false police report stating that I went up to these officers and punched Patino in the chest and caused him to fall back.

They also wrote that I grabbed Patino’s vest and tried to take his police radio and Tineo came and arrested me. Marcos Martinez didn’t put his name on the report but he was driving the car and pulled up to me.THE POLICE REPORT IS ALL FALSE. The video shows the truth, it shows what actually happened. These officers came out of nowhere to block me from walking and beat me up on my own block. Then Bishnu McKnight (Badge #4971) assaults me at the hospital away from cameras and people to avoid witnesses. I made a complaint to Internal Affairs and two months have passed and they still haven’t done anything. I was beaten up and arrested for no reason. I was 19 at the time and have no criminal record. I was humiliated and treated like an animal. They tortured me at the police station. PLEASE SHARE"

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office also said it was investigating the case but offered no details and made no mention of another video. Below is an image of the police report uploaded to Instagram by Alsaidi.

Police Called to Child’s Suicide Attempt and the Responding Officer Molested Her

Waynesboro, PA — Waynesboro police officer William E. Sublett IV was on duty in 2019 when he responded to a call about a 15-year-old girl’s attempted suicide. Instead of helping this child in need, however, Sublett preyed on her.

The investigation into Sublett, 33, of Washington Township began in December 2019 after he responded to a suicide attempt call for a child. Last week, Trooper Erica Polcha announced Sublett’s arrest on charges of indecent assault, corruption of minors and aggravated indecent assault.

When Sublett responded to the call, he allegedly began grooming her from that day. According to court records, the officer sent sexually explicit messages to her and then molested her.

According to Polcha, the girl said she met Sublett during the December 2019 suicide attempt call, that he had online sexual conversations with her, has asked for unclothed photos of her and had fondled her breasts and genitals against her will at his home this past November.

Polcha explained they seized a cellphone from Sublett that he bought the child to have her use to exchange the photos. According to a report from Penn Live:

"An examination of that phone showed Sublett began asking for photos of the girl after she sent him an image of a sex toy this past November. Polcha said. She said Sublett’s messages to the teen included two that read, “You look amazing, you have no idea. Gosh,” and “You have no idea the things I could do to you.” He also asked whether there was “any chance of ever get (sic) to see that body in person,” the affidavit states.

He apologized when the girl refused his request to see compromising photos of her, Polcha wrote. In later more explicit messages, Sublett spoke of having sexual contact with the girl and how it would occur,” the trooper said. She said security camera footage from the victim’s home showed Sublett at the residence when he was scheduled to be on duty.

During a Dec. 10 interview with troopers, Sublett said he was a “role model figure” for the teen and had been checking in on her periodically at the request of her mother, Polcha wrote. She said Sublett denied texting the teen or buying her a phone and “immediately terminated the interview” when asked about the girl’s sex abuse allegations."

When the initial investigation was launched last year, Sublett was put on paid administrative leave. On January 5th, he resigned from the department. Sublett will eventually have a preliminary arraignment with the judge, according to a news release from the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office. However, a date had not been set as of Tuesday, according to online court records.

As frequent readers of the Free Thought Project know, police officers are arrested weekly in this country for sex crimes involving children. This is a massive problem but becomes even worse when kids think the cops are there to help them and end up being abused by those cops.

As we reported at the end of last year, the New Orleans Police department arrested one of their own officers for sexually assaulting a child. Rodney Vicknair, 53, was arrested and charged with sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile and malfeasance, for sexually assaulting a child while investigating a sexual assault that she reported.

That child had contacted the NOPD to report a sexual assault and Vicknair was assigned to her case. Instead of helping the child, however, this monster allegedly began grooming her.

His case was nearly identical to Sublett’s as he began sending text messages to the girl, going to her house during his personal time and remarking how attractive she was and how she aroused him, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. He is also accused of fondling the girl’s genitals and breasts, according to the investigation.
