I lived in Vegas for more than a year at $20 a day. Stratosphere, Vegas Club, The Plaza, The Sahara all had $20 a day specials running all the time. if you talk to the hotel manager you can get $20 a day for 3 or 4 months in a row. I liked The Plaza the best but they won't give you the $20 a day on the weekends.

When I first went to Vegas I just ran sidestep.com once a week to see who had the best rates that week. Then I got to know the manager at the Plaza and she gave me a deal for 4 months between the Plaza and the Vegas Club.

I just ran a search on sidestep and you can stay at the Tuscany for $24. That is a REALLY nice hotel.

Some of these places just stop renting the rooms out when the rates get too low. Binions did this instead of renting $20 rooms. Their rooms were decent. I'd rather stay at a hotel instead of a weekly dump around 15th and Fremont for the same money.

In other words you'd be lucky to make 20k a year there with no benefits, right Jeff ?

Online mainly because of conveince. All I have to do is click a button and its over.

I can find the best line at 15 places or so and have the bet done and confirmed in 20 seconds. Much easier then dealing with all the commotion (and heat) with finding the best line and then driving to the casino to bet it.

South summerlin is the nicest area in vegas, IMP but probably the most expensive also. Living single? If so you should be fine. Start adding in others and pets it gets harder.

If you live in Summerlin, you have a couple of nice locals casinos nearby. The traffic up there really sucks. It is a real pain, and a hike, to get to the Strip. If you travel much, it is a long trip to the airport. Same with getting to UNLV bball games at the Thomas and Mack.

Don't get me wrong, it is very nice in Summerlin, just a pain traveling to the Strip and elsewhere. I go to the Strip a lot. I live in Henderson with some elevation and have a great view of the Strip.

If you are definitely looking for an apartment, you might check out the Las Vegas Country Club. It is behind the Hilton and is where Lefty Rosenthal from the movie Casino lived. The apartments are older, but the location to the Strip and downtown can't be beat. I have a number of single friends that live there and love it.

As somebody else mentioned, if there is any way you can afford to buy, the prices are unbelievable!

Finally some love for my EASTside

You are spot on with your comments above and one of the positives to living on that side of town.

As stated, both sides offer positives and negatives.......and having lived on both sides for numerous years, try not to let anyone say that one is considerable better than the other, because it's not true.
