I think the difference is that if you are seated in your car and someone was trying to attack you, you are basically in a confined defenseless position. If he would have shot McKnight outside of the car while he was on equal ground, he would probably still be in jail.

The only way this guy is innocent in my eyes is if McKnight instigated a physical confrontation and tried to enter the car. Then he deserves to get shot. But if he never tries to gain entry then there is no justification. If he is ranting outside the car you lock the doors and call 911. they had a press conference, during that conference the coroner gave the details on the wounds, entry and exit... he took one in two fingers, one in the upper shoulder, and one in the chest beneath the nipple that exited the lower back.... you can find this online i'm sure.....

There is quite a difference with that case though. The Grandpa fled the scene and the victim was also shot through his heart and out the back. That article is only stating the grandpa's view of the incident. Apparently parts of his story didn't fly in the courtroom. But of course that doesn't matter to the media as they just want to get a story out there.

Mr. Batiste got into a confrontation with Mr.Vicknair in front of Mr.Vicknair's auto repair shop due to a disabled vehicle blocking the street. Mr. Batiste left and later returned to the shop, He shot Mr.Vicknair while seated in his truck, which was running at the time. After shooting the victim he drove away.

I guess the Jury found that Batiste could have easily drove around the disabled vehicle and avoided the entire incident. This wasn't a road rage incident like the McKnight one. It involved a disabled vehicle, a town truck, and the old man that wouldn't go around.
