In another 5 years, bitcoin could go to $0 and then OP will look like a genius. None of us know anything.

Not one single person who ever said that will ever be called a genius over anything, -10000

No one who has ever declared that about pretty much anything can be called a genius. They would be blessed to just be called average in most company.

Anyone can say anything will eventually end up worth zero.

That's about as informative as the breaking news that everyone will die one day.

You will always be my favorite Moderator. You keep it real & speak your true thoughts & are the “least” politically correct with your post. In my world that’s a very likable person that I respect.

Wow optional you took that a little too seriously, at least way more than I did lol.

I'm just offering a different perspective to everyone that's ripping on the OP.

After all, if we had the foresight to know where bitcoin would be at today (or 2017), we would have bought it back then when it was relatively dirt cheap, sold the top and we'd all be billionaires, right?

So in reality, did any of us really know more than the OP?

That's all I'm saying really. That and just poking some fun at hodlers similar to the poster above (remember, haven't made anything until you cash out, something OP HAS done).

All that other stuff about being a genius, I'm sure you can see that as hyperbole and nothing too serious.

In my defense it was the OP who said he did know all those years ago. I agree with you that it's mostly guessing and hoping, not predicting, when it comes to cryptos.

But no offense was meant. If you had read the line about it being worth zero one day as many times as I have had you'd understand me blurting out a vigorous argument ;-)

Haha I hear you. Most FUD is spread by the big banks for obvious reasons and so that makes it all the more insufferable every time you hear it.

FWIW, I tried to make my original post in the trolling style of jjgold but I guess I wasn't too successful

A million times this, but there are a lot of guys here that are bullish on bitcoin (and invested in it) that truly believe it will hit some pretty lofty highs.

The core problem with bitcoin and all virtual currencies is their is no objective way to value them. A company has equity, earnings, cash flow, often dividends. Currencies of countrires let you look at economic data and other things, there's no reliable way to value any of these digital currencies.

Supply/Demand. Bitcoin is a finite, secure, scarce asset.

Good post. Also, bitcoin enthusiasts (that are not sports bettors) really want to believe that bitcoin will replace fiat. I doubt anyone here would have any use for bitcoin if it couldn't be converted to dollars/euros etc. So the whole "bitcoin is better than fiat" argument is a dud.

Finite, not really, scarce also not really as a fork creates another 21+ million "coins", plus bitcoin could possibly be replaced by a superior product which makes the scarcity a non issue.

Lots of things are scarce and worthless. Scarcity doesn't automatically equal value.
