    It was a penalty.

I didn't bet the game or care who won.

I don't believe the game was fixed.

Just that the home team got the call from the refs.

Refs tried not to decide the game on the last play but by not calling an obvious penalty they did just that.

the players know it's fixed. Tom's actions post game interview totally read his face as saying it was fixed it is fixed and I'm making millions off this game they fix. Ray Lewis saying what he is saying about the lights along with Suggs what balls on Suggs telling the NFL while he is in the NFL you are cheaters. NICE job T-Sizz!!!! But you Joe public knows its not? T-Sizz's team won that game by the way and he still comes out and says it was crooked....

they tried not to decide the game?

The most certainly decided the game.

Should have been first and goal from the 1 yard line with no time remaining

Patriots should have had 1 last play

Bet on Scam Newton last night I was happy with the ending. It's a call that would depend where you are playing. If that was in NE they would have at least gotten a Def Holding call and one more try from the 13. Im glad the game was in Newtron land

Of course it was pass interference but the way the NFL works and has worked for a long time is if a play is close, the refs are instructed to do good for NFL's partner, Vegas. Vegas is good for the NFL. The NFL is good for Vegas. Can't get any more simple than that. Anybody who doesn't think so should check out the end of the Steelers / Chargers in Nov 2008

I just watched the replay on my DVR. It took exactly 1 min and 25 seconds from the time the flag was thrown to the time the ref announced there was no penalty on the play.

A former NFL ref said it was 100% a penalty on twitter.

'The pass was catchable..not illegal contact since ball was in the air...contact on 87 occurs prior to interception. It's a foul and called!'

    leave the refs alone
they have a hard job, that was a good no call by the african refree

that was just a bad pass by brady

brady is a fraud, brady has been choking since belichick stopped cheating, all those nice ats numbers after a bye, on monday night, in prime time,... mean nothing

Scorp it was a call by the ref he threw the phucking flag. JUDGMENT CALL in his best judgment(the ref closest to the play has the best view in the world, he called it-it is PI. DAMN people you disappoint me with your ignorance. Everything is not wholesome and pure, the NFL is one of those things we love we can't think in those terms(like your children they could never do nothing wrong). He called PI they should've assessed the penalty and had a final play, unless the ball was tipped at line. I am waiting on one of these it was NOT's to address that one PLEASE... And how quick it ended they could come up with a solution to that mess in a minute in a half.

Just read some interesting analyze about rules related to the play. The illegal contact, defensive holding, and pass interference are all similar except where the ball is. If passer is in the pocket with ball, it is illegal contact. If passer is out of pocket with ball, it is defensive holding. If ball is in air, it is pass interference. So PI was the right call. But.. there is an exception of PI, which is unless the ball is CLEARLY uncatchable. Whether it was clearly or not is the focus of debate.

If the ball was thrown high and actually reached Gronk they wouldn't have picked up the flag. The ball was intercepted and if it wasn't it would have been in Gronk's feet when it reached him.

I have seen Tony Gonzalez being held by two defenders in the end zone a couple of times this year and there was no call because the ball was not thrown at him. I think it's one of these unwritten rules that unless the holding prevents you from catching the ball they allow it in the end zone.

Underthrown passes are caught all the time. You simply cannot say that he couldn't have possibly stopped and gotten a hand on it. The ball ended up pretty much exactly where the interference began? Uncatchable is for situations where it's UNCATHCABLE. IN other words, the ball is 12 feet in the air and no human can jump that high. Even if it was highly unlikely that he could catch it, that's not the determination. I'd say even a 1% chance of catching negates it being uncatchable. It's not a more likely than not determination.

i said from the beginning the flag was the problem.

it was a borderline play which i dont know how you can decide a game by a flag in that spot, picking it up with no explanation and running off the field was the controversy.

bullshit. faceguarding 101 on Kuechly. Defender must look for the ball.

Defender cannot just grab a dude like that

He could have at least tackled the safety while he was catching it, maybe sending the ball up in the air, and giving the pats wrs a chance at a jump ball.

I think Gronk could have fought for that ball for sure. That 2 yards away is literally one stride for Gronk.

the refs made the right call, why??
    Gronk didnt complain
Gronk didnt try to catch the ball because the ball was underthrown, bad pass by Brady
Gronk has the body and strength to fight the LB but he didnt because??? the ball was underthrown
Gronks body language should tell you the black ref made the right call

Brady should be fined for complaining about the call

Gronk is hurt. Gronk also probably wanted to make it obvious that Kuechly was raping him.

Clearly a pass interference. Hands to the face and face guarding.

Refs did not allow the players to decide the game.

Should have been 1st and goal from the 1 yard line with no time remaining but 1 last play for the Patriots
