i mean, when people say they only have a buck to their name or whatever, i never really take it to mean exactly that.

I have seen a couple threads that someone says they lost alll their cash and had no way to pay for food. One guy said he had not enough in his account to buy a value meal. That is my point. We do not know his situation . I am assuming he just needs it for a couple days so he would get value meals. It depends on how far your next paycheck is. You should always have something stashed aside just in case. $20 is the minimum. It will get you by a couple days. He did not specify so i went with that amount. However i could feed myself on $20 for 5 days if i had to. I would get groceries though in that case not fast food. It would be eggs,hot dogs (more in a pack to last longer), Cheaper soda, stuff along that lines.
