    1.7.14/Play #22: [ATP AUCKLAND] Klahn +115
The American lefty has shown some nice grit this week, working through qualis and winning in the weather-stopped and then restarted match against Brands. That shows good poise as many young players struggle to focus through those situations. He faces Lu who has already picked up an injury with a thigh issue in Chennai. He worked through against Sijsling in the opener, but wasn't overly impressive. The feeling is motivation should be with Klahn as the young guns get more amped up for these prep tournaments, especially when they run deeper and see an opening. Lu may be in position to be happy to have shown the thigh issue won't be a major concern for Melbourne, but he may also be more concerned with staying healthy than necessarily getting the positive result given his injury history. Lu is slightly under .500 against lefties, so perhaps the Southy can work that other worldly magic here. He shouldn't be overly taxed as the match with Brands finished relatively quickly earlier.

    GL EP.

    Am on Stosur/Mladenovic O2.5 Sets at +186

Basically Stosur is lacking confidence and form at this time of year and expect her to get off to a slow start in this match up.

At that price i couldnt refuse. Good luck...

I have promised myself, no Stosur while she plays in Australia. Only thing I will/would do is go against her in the AO because of her track record of flopping. Good luck this evening.

Where can you find stats against left handers? I was just trying to google that to see what I thought of Stepanek-Ramos. Ended up going match by match last year.

Any thoughts on Janowicz v Dog?

Lefty stats they have at the official ATP website. Just do a player search for whomever you want and it's under Match Record.

Janowicz-Dog ... I would rather stick my crank into a pencil sharpener.

Guess Saville shot his wad in the 1st set TB. Seven straight games dropped. Quali sweep of death?

One shot in the dark to finish up a horrifying 1-3 mark in Qualis.

A perfect end to a frustrating day. Another dude loses in an extended third set and he had an opportunity to serve for the match and blew it before losing 10-8. Such is tennis betting.

1.8.14/Play #24: WTA Australian Open Qualis: Tatishvili -125

    1.8.14/Play #25: ATP Auckland: Kohlschreiber -130
Renewing what has become a decent rivalry at the US Open two years running. Kohlschreiber knows what to expect here against Isner. Isner got back on the winning track against Lacko, but he's still got the tender ankle from the Hopman Cup - so I don't expect him to be overly aggressive in extending himself. Both have solid track records in Auckland, Kohli just a shade better with consistency here. Price seems pretty much spot on, but I think with Isner wanting to insure he's close to 100% for the AO - my money is on Kohlschreiber to nick this one.

Any thoughts on Sock-Agut? Leaning Agut, but a few other guys here seem to be on Sock. I didn't get a chance to see Sock-Haas match, but based on Hard court results last year, Bautista seems to be the play to me.

Think it's a coin flip. Sock beat Haas in his first match of the year, so I don't get overly jacked about it.

Thanks for your input. I just think Agut is the more consistent player. I'm taking a shot with him. Good luck this season.

Anyone betting the Auckland matches today, the forecast is for a few more hours of showers, and the courts are currently drenched. They just started to dry them out now.

If you don't me voicing my opinion (and even if you do, let's be honest), Haas was his Hitler-self in that match. Sock wasn't bad though.

1.8.14/Play #26: [ATP AUSTRALIAN OPEN QUALIS]: Kosakowski +180
The young American scored a solid grinder of a win against Ito to open qualis. Kosakowski was a bit of an up & comer back in 2011-2012 as he flipped between Futures & Challengers. A shoulder injury in April 2013 derailed him for six months and he's now flashing a bit of that potential now that he is healthier. Gombos I don't know a ton about. He looked solid in his opener and played decently in qualis in Chennai. This shapes up to be a battle & I am going with Kosakowski for a little more rejuvenation.

    1.8.14/Play #27: [ATP KOOYONG] Wawrinka-Thompson Over 20 [-135]
Wawrinka lost to Simon yesterday, while Thompson pushed Gasquet to the brink in a third set TB. Wawrinka's motivation might be a little questionable here as he won Chennai and will be looking to get through these exhibition matches in good health. Thompson meanwhile is out to prove himself. The Aussie won the Wildcard Playoff to earn a main draw birth into the Australian Open and he's looking to prove he can hang with the big boys. Looking for effort from the young buck & hopefully some competitive desire from Wawa.

    1.9.14/Play #28: [WTA SYDNEY] Keys +258
Kerber is tough, but it's now just one step away from a title match for either one. Kvitova looks like she is going down, so that leaves a perceived easier match against Pironkova for the title. Keys' massive serve already may rank 2nd only to Serena. Consistency is the key. Big match for her going into Melbourne. Kerber has a bit of a track record at tapping out of these tourneys late - maybe that happens, maybe it doesn't/ Worth a roll for me and if she serves well - the sky is the limit.

It's always the same stupid question... look, here's the thing: It doesn't matter if you think someone will win, or if you "like" a particular spot – what mattersis the odds: What you should be asking me is whether I like a particular spot at a particular set of odds.

I absolutely hate Sugita and to a lesser extent Copil at current market odds, and I have no idea what odds you're considering.

There are none. I feel more confident in Bencic and Lajovic than Sugita or Copil, but any or all may lose.
