Obviously way too many picks and I'll have a few ready and booked by 20:00 CET.

    The Hot Bats:

    1. Falkirk

    2. Hearts

    3. Norwich

    4. Swansea

    Question marks:

    (Hibernian ML @ home ? )

    (Celtic ML @ home ? Under 2.5 ? )

(Derby vs. Charlton - Draw? Under 2.5 !? Derby ML ?)

    (Leicester -1 AH / Clean Sheet ?)

    (Nottingham 'DNB' away?)

(AaB to qualify for the CL group stage @ +200 ? AaB +0.5..)

    So long !

    My first post!

Avoid the Leicester game. Shrewsbury are in fact quite decent. They have Vernon and Collins upfront who were both playing in Scottish Prem last season. Liam lawrence has prem experience while Woods is being looked at by a teams in Div 2.
Leicester will make a lot of changes and are not bothered about this competition. This is shrewsbury's cup final so i'd avoid the fixture.

Safe bets are WBA who play an Oxford team who have huge issues on and off the field. WBA will start a few of their new signings so they should be up for it. Oxford fired their manager just before the season started. Their new manager has an awful record. They have lost all their league games and they have a very weak strike force.

Bournemouth should be another good bet. Northampton will rest their best players as they did in the last round. Meanwhile Bournemouth fielded a strong team away at exeter in the last round. Even though a weakened northampton team beat wolves in the last round, they shouldn't be able to repeat the feat against a well drilled eddie howe team.

Wba/bournemouth double pays just under evens.

I'll probably have a few more beta but only after the starting 11's are announced. League cup is notorious for teams fielding reserve team players as well as cup upsets.

MATCH PREVIEW FROM LEICESTER'S WEB PAGE:

    http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/250...y-1870063.aspx

    ..AND ANOTHER ARTICLE FROM 'LCFC.COM':

    http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/250...s-1870114.aspx

As mentioned yesterday, the Shrewsbury record is relatively good and I am absolutely certain that they will approach this one as a 'final match'. This is also why I marked Leicester as a question mark today..

On the other hand, I think that the Leicester team needs to win back some confidence (from a managerial perspective) . Not least in their own defensive structure. As far as I can see (untill the team sheets are released) the most likely changes will be made midfield and in the attack. But I don't know.

The Leicester ML is way too juicy, but I think they'll be able to handle this game for most parts though.

    On AaB..

Børsting and Enevoldsen to start instead of Helenius and Wichmann, who made the starters last week. Wise but dangerous!

When in form, Thomas Enevoldsen is a very good stabilizing midfielder with speed and experience both ways. He could create the last bit of space needed for AaB to do one or two better compared to last we(a)eks performance..

Team sheets in a short while..

Just glad I kept away from Clean Sheets and the ML/handicap lines.. 1-1 at the end of 90 mins!? Hopefully !

Well, for AaB the UEFA mountain just got steeper and I expect some tactical changes.. More attacking. I think we'll see Helenius and Dalsgaard in action some time soon.

    On away-goals it is then

    Fingers crossed !

I have also been looking at Arsenal, as You mentioned yesterday. With that 2nd half vs. Everton on Saturday fresh in memory, as well as the recent Community Shield win vs. Man. City, I am leaning ML, -1AH.. Maybe even a couple of steps further along those lines.. Only certainty at the moment: wait for the Team Sheets !

Giroud is out with an injury, Arteta's injured and Walcott's still not in, but on the other hand I have a feeling it's time for Alexis Sanchez to shine in a Gunner's shirt.. And even though midfielder Ramsey is suspended, I think that they have the depth on the bench to cover for this just as well. Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Özil, Wilshire.. On the other hand, I do not hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will start. He's the shattest James Bond EVER !

    Arsenal Team news from yesterday:

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-arc...eta-gibbs-theo

Arsenal WWW preview of tonight's match from today:

    http://www.arsenal.com/match/report/...-match-preview

    THE OPPONENT

In all fairness, Besiktas have made an impressive run for their latest five matches. Still, 0-0 @ home vs. Arsenal in last week's 1st legger, isn't even a job half done; and the job will probably not be any easier to finish for them tonight.

Anyway, Besiktas haven't lost in their latest five matches overall : W -W-W-W-D (+5 / 7:2). Among the opponents were Feyenoord (Besiktas won in 2 legs in the qualifiers), Chelsea and Fenerbache who were 'beaten' 1-0 each in friendlies.

In keeping with the logic of Odejayi1's post from yesterday, Besiktas will not only approach this match as a sort of final; it is, in many ways, a final. Adding the signing of Demba Ba from Chelsea FC and the clean sheet vs. the Gunners last week, this makes a good argument that Besiktas are indeed a side to reckon with.

But with the 1st legger as the only real 'preview' to this match, it looked to me as if Arsenal had a good idea on how to lock down Ba (they know him very well!) and at the same time keep their cools in Istanbul. And with Saturday's match away vs. Everton in mind, I think the scale is tipping rather heavily in Arsenal's favor.

Nice bets. Sanchez through the middle should lead to him scoring a few more goals.

It's been a hard week though.. I've f@cked up my PM pretty good, although my picks have been decent. Kept off the soccer books yesterday but luckily I catched Atlanta Braves in a good mood.Just to say that I'm not all broke, nor broken!

    Doesn't count here though..

AaB disappointed me on Tuesday. Not only because it is my club but becauseit seemed they just rolled over! Either way, they 'played' way beneath their level. A few key players were missing, but still..

Celtic is another theme, I've had to accept, along with Aston Villa, and as such these few picks have been very expensive..

As You're saying, the coming weekend is full of intriguing match ups. For now, the only pick I've booked is AaB -1 AH @ +200. This is very good value, as victory is the only thing on their minds right now and there's no further injuries. As such this Aab team should be able to produce a comfortable away win vs. Up Comers from Silkeborg IF on Sunday.

Stick with it buddy. Your luck will turn.

Going to take on some of the draws this week:

Aston Villa vs Hull 1 unit on draw @ 3.15
Villa can't score but have looked decent at the back. The Villa vs Newcastle last week was unbelievably boring . Hull coming of a mid-week european tie may cause a bit of fatigue. Has draw written all over.

    Qpr vs Sunderland - 1 unit draw @ 3.25
Qpr have been really poor. 3-5-2 seems to be the latest formation in fashion but i'm not sure it works that well in the premier league (as Van Gaal is finding out!). Nevertheless, qpr should of got a point at home to hull in the opening fixture. There's not a lot of difference between sunderland and hull. Redknapp will have his team fired up after an awful loss midweek. While i'd expect sunderland to line up 4-5-1 leading to a very congested midfield. Other potential bet is AH sunderland 0 but i'm going to stick with the draw.

West Ham vs Southampton - 1 unit draw @ 3.35
The loss of nolan and carroll to injury is a big blow. Nevertheless the hammers are tough to breakdown at home. I'm not sure Koeman would have ever come up against a manager so adept at physcial play. Certainly some value in AH on Southampton 0.

Also tempted by the draw on spurs vs liverpool but i'm going to stick with the above 3 bets.

    English 'Sky Bet Championship'

    * Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Charlton Athletic

    • Brighton won 10 games and lost seven @ home last season.

    • Brighton only failed to score in three home games last season. Leonardo Ulloa and Ashley Barnes scored 22 goals between them for Brighton last season. Both have now left the club. They've scored 5 goals in regular time, in their latest three matches - 8 goals, if you count the 3 goals produced in extra time in the Capital One Cup away vs. Swindon.

    • Brighton have only beaten Charlton once at home since September 1990
