Explain Soccer betting to a sucker

So I have seen people make a lot of money betting soccer. Im not particularly interested in the sport, unless there is money involved, and my friends are all crazy about it, so I thought i'd educate my self, and maybe it would get more exciting watching them kick the ball around.

So first off, if someone could educate me on what these numbers mean:

    Would be awesome.

Secondly, how do you most easily profit off of soccer? I'm hearing pointspreads in the Spanish league is a good way to make money, as the talent discrepancy is very big.

Also which is good things to look for? I hear a team using their "reserveplayers" is a good indication that they are likely gonna do bad. Some general tips like that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Ha what he said^

Can't read what your pic says but write what it said or other questions and I'll try answer them.

Soccer certainly isn't easy money! The Spanish top league Barcelona and Real Madrid get a lot more money out of television rights so are a class above all the other sides, Messi's hurt at the moment and will be out for awhile they aren't the same side with out him so maybe avoid taking big Barcelona handicaps.

Imo, there are several factors, you should be aware of like weather on the day of the match, injuries and suspensions etc.
I'd advise you to stay away from betting Cup games in European leagues, because it happens pretty often, that there will be an OT or a win by a heavy underdog. Before betting on Cup games, gather really solid info on those games from the coaches and players. If you feel like betting on those games, be smart about it. Concerning league games around Europe: I think it's OK, to pick few leagues and follow them. Again, be smart about leagues, you aren't familiar with or gather as many information as you can before betting.
Betting soccer can sometimes really be a b*tch. A team can win a game by playing very strong defence for 90 mins and ending up winning the game.

I would recommend to become a fan of soccer watch the World Cup, which is a few months away in Brazil 2014, you'll be able to see some of the best soccer on ESPN every day for a month. That soccer is of the highest level, and the easiest to become a fan of. Unless of course, a minnow is playing. The World Cup which is every 4 years. Pick a team to follow. If you are an American of course follow the USA. If you're from a country that's not in the World Cup and adopt some of the teams. And follow them closely. They might make upsets. Which of course = Big Bets!

I say "BEFORE YOU PLACE BETS" follow 3 leagues really closely. Maybe for 2 - 4 weeks. The English leauge EPL (games every week even in Xmas, maybe the German Bundesliga, maybe French or Italian or Mexican and maybe even Major Leauge Soccer (not because its the most exciting to watch, because some teams are not exciting to watch, but because I've never seen teams go on big streaks ((winning or loosing) as they do in MLS.)

As already said, FC Barcelona is not currently a good bet a they are not as good as they used to be and Messi is injured for weeks / months.

Also, DO NOT place bets on the Argentine league (maybe my favorite league after EPL) or the Brazilian league (which does produce some amazing players & teams) because this year those teams are too eratic. There are too many easy games the supperior teams are loosing to middle & low level teams. And too many games that the bottom dwellers are over reaching and winning against medium level teams.

Excellent question! I recommend pick a team in the EPL to be your team. Read Bleacher report, Goal.com reports and of course the big s0ccer forums. So maybe pick Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City as your team. Sometimes, during the European night "UEFA Champions League" Wed. night games they will play their reserve / youngsters players if they have a big game for 1st place (in the EPL) vs Manchester United or Liverpool. AND 'your team' has already been disqualified or has already qualified to the next round of champions leauge.

Honestly just pick 1 of the top 5 teams in the EPL. And follow them religiously. DON"T BET on your team for at least 2 - 5 weeks, till you get an idea of how the coach rests star players.

AND OH YEAH LAST TIP. ((Placing bets 60 - 10 mins. before a game from twitter line-up))

If you have a big soccer wager. WAIT till 60 mins. - 15 mins. before the start of the game. That's when teams release their starting line up. You can usually find it on a twitter feed. If your team has 3 of your superstar regulars resting. And the other team has none. Might not be the day to place a bet in your team. But maybe a good night to bet against your team!!!

    OH DEAR

anyone can make money from betting soccer if they have knowledge about gambling, i.e money management, analyzing line movement etc you do not have to pick a team and watch a world cup to say i am now able to gamble no way.

research patterns, research trends, RESEARCH! the only way you will get better at gambling soccer is if you risk. Indeed you will lose and by losing you will learn a hell of a LOT.

    goodluck friend.

First one on the left (Nigeria +1, Italy -1) I assume this is the American spread system (my books use asian and english handicaps the Asian one can take a bit of explaining but this doesn't look like it). So Italy needed to win by 2 or more if you backed them, backing Nigeria with the handicap (+1) you had them to win or the draw. I believe a one goal win for Italy would of been a push but I'm unfamiliar with this handicap so could be wrong.

Second one along is the total goals for the match market, so over/under 2.5 goals for the match. Last column is the teams individual total. Both teams covered their respective goal totals for this match (Nigeria set at 0.5 easily covered, Italy set at 1.5 went over also).

I notice the next game has a game total of 3 for the Argentina v Bosnia match, 3 goals gives you a push, 4+ a win 2 or less a loss.

1st thing I'd say is majority of those that claim football/soccer betting is easy are either lying or having been doing it long enough to have a suitable sample size! There have been hundreds of guys on here who have created threads sayin that they have been making easy dollar on soccer then they lose a few bets and disappear.

I would say is 5dimes is not a site I'd personally want to use for soccer. As your are European based the easiest way to make a quick few hundred + on soccer (and other sports like tennis) is to have a pinnacle account and then Bet365, stanjames, betvictor, skybet, wh, coral etc... Even without any knowledge of football you could then just do arbitrage betting and make risk free profit for a while. You can bet draw-no-bet on one team at say +110 (draw-no-bet means if the game is a tie you get your stake back) on one site such as Coral, and back the opposition draw-no-bet at Evens on another site such as Pinnacle - opportunities like these often crop up in football as there are so many games constantly happening. That's how I made money initially with football and tennis but then I gradually got limited on every site to where it wasn't worth doing arbitrage betting anymore (only site not limited on is Pinnacle of course). Used to be very easy as well because oddschecker had every major site plus pinnacle odds listed for every game and you could pick up arbs easily but now oddschecker have removed pinnacle so it isn't as easy to spot them. But even now, you can go on oddschecker and can see that on tennis section there are risk free opportunities - anything under 100% means there is a risk free opportunity... http://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/match-coupon

But for just straight up betting I think having a Pinnacle account is vital for football if you want to make serious money. With MMA you can get by with sportbet/5dimes and sportsbook, but not for football. Bet365 is also very good and probably the best book for football generally.
