Scholarships 'Exclusively' For White Males

One college student has started a non-profit to do just that.

With a growing number of college scholarships available for minority groups, Texas State Student Colby Bohannan felt there was one segment of the population that's being overlooked.
"There's one group that can't find scholarship opportunities based just upon race or gender and that's white males."
Bohannan has created the Former Majority Association for Equality (http://www.fmafe.org/), a non profit that will provide five, five hundred dollar scholarships exclusively to white males.
"You have to start somewhere and I'm not a millionaire."
Bohannan says his group is taking donations to provide even more money for white male students. It's an effort that critics are calling misguided.
"I think it's a bad idea. Scholarships and financial resources should be given based on need,' says Edward Bloom, President of the Project on Fair Representation (http://www.projectonfairrepresentation.org/).
And Hector Chavana with the La Raza Justice Movement thinks the idea borders on white supremacy.
"It's basically white nationalism," says Chavana.
Bohannan meanwhile says his organization has been receiving a lot of support from college goers and the community.

No doubt you're bitching about Asians taking up 400-1000% of their US population proportion (4.3%) in colleges. Whites make up 66%, Hispanics make up 14.5%, Blacks 12%.

Take a look at the demographics of a few top universities.

Harvard:
Asians - 17% (400% of pop prop)
Whites - 42% (63% of pop prop)
Black - 8%
Hispanic - 7%
International -11%
Native - 1%

MIT:
Asian - 25.6% (600% of pop prop)
White - 42.5% (63% of pop prop)
Hispanic 13.2%
Black - 8.5%
Other/International - 9.2%
Native - 1%

Asians are given preference + they can make it on their own and then more = insane disproportion. The same cannot be said for blacks and hispanics, both barely making up 50% of their pop prop despite all preferences and scholarships.

How many black, asian, white, muslim scholarships given out in Guatemala?? There are schools there? Could I move there and demand the driving test be in English, job/education preference over natives despite being unqualified, play the victim and call the government racist for deporting my illegal family, etc.?

1. Sounds like this is a pretty isolated incident. Give me a call when this starts happening a lot. Guess what, it won't.
2. Two C Students. One Hispanic. One White. Both poor. Both have crappy parents. If a teacher or coach pushes the Hispanic kid to improve to B average, many many doors will open for him by virtue of being Hispanic. Not so for the White kid. Is this fair?

Not even remotely true for starters. Secondly, our past history of wrongs should give us a desire for justice, not merely flipping the tables. However, if that is what people want and feel should happen, then I guess white people then should fight as hard as they can not to let this happen. I would say this for any group or ethnicity.

You should change that Latino kid to black...Latinos don't get breaks, we make it from our strong work ethic......the reason most Latinos don't go to college is not because we don't want to or are too lazy... It's because we start working at a very young age to help the family and our families can't afford tuition....So, we end up stuck in our jobs and never had the time for a stress free education....

I'll be the first to say that I stand in awe of the worth ethic of many Latino workers and agree for the most part that Latinos don't need any handouts. Don't want 'em. Very true. They, however can be corrupted by the current landscape that is America just like any one else, and choose to take the "easy way." Seen it time and time again. They too "know" the game.

Warning: Generalizing obviously.

Education is not nearly as valued with Latinos. That simply, is why there are not more Latinos in college. With Asians, it is an expectation. To be honest, Education is valued probably least in the Latin community out of all groups.

And forget education, simple discipline. For the life of me, I will never understand how so many Latino parents can work so hard, yet drop the ball on knowing what their kids are up to(criminal activity) given that family and a lot of other good things are traditionally so important to them.

1st generation of Latinos - Work very hard.
After that - Mixed Bag.

We should inspire kids to achieve high marks and be there for them if parents cannot afford it. And by high marks, I mean mostly A's or a good SAT/ACT score. We should not push mediocre students to go to college. Especially not based on race. More times than not, this is bad for everyone. And yes this happens. Nearly all schools want to claim they are diverse. They do this by doing whatever they can to bring in Latinos and African Americans.

Whatever...The point that there is not more $ out there for Latinos than there is white kids is not even debatable.
