Based on this thread you would love my album collection. I still have about 2000 albums I think. It helped working in the music industry for 11 years.

LOL I love The Baby's. They were like the harder version of The Baycity Rollers.

Here's my list of bands that sound UN-RECOGNIZABLE to the early work by the time they get to a later stage in their career. So much so that they should have changed the band's name:

    1) Genesis
    2) Human League
    3) Ultravox
    4) Gary Numan (who originally fronted Tubeway Army)
    5) Joy Division*

*Joy Division comes with a huge asterisk. Joy Division lead vocalist Ian Curtis killed himself, leading to the dissolution of the band. Curtis was the primary lyricist for the band's two albums...and in retrospect his dark language foretold of a dire ending.

Joy Division's three remaining members reformed as New Order. New Order had significant pop success with a noticably more upbeat tone.

Excellent band. John Waite had a great voice.

Good stuff, Bandpat. I'm sure you have a unique collection.

It's art. So, eveyone will have their own opinion.

I mentioned one cutoff = a band being able to produce two good albums, tops. A great band keeps coming back and knocking it out repeatedly.

Another criteria for me is a band who makes great ALBUMS versus producing a few catchy singles. If I like a band, I want to enjoy the entire album. Steely Dan was a great ALBUM band (imho). I can say that The Police were a great album band, too. The Police made only five albums, there just wasn't any filler.

Two acts that (surprisingly) made good singles but not good albums. Queen and Christopher Cross. Great pop singles but I can't palate listening to the whole album.

I believe the young boy (1:46) in the video is Bono's young cousin. Same kid that was the original face of the Boy album. The label eventually changed the Boy album cover, to avoid being linked to a pedophilia image.

Great album. I love Pink Floyd with a few asterisks:

    1) Really need to view Floyd as four separate entities:
    a) Syd era, b) post-Syd collaborative era, c) Roger-dominated era, and post-Roger era.

    2) At least 1 or 2 of their experimental albums were complete flops.

    3) I personally can't listen to the post-Roger albums.
