You buy shares of Apple but no one actually takes possession of the shares. You could. I use Coinbase as my BTC broker. I have the BTC software but have never traded directly. I'm going slow.

    Sounds tight.

Would personally research anywhere where u keep coins to ensure updated protocols are met re recent malleability issues that should have been rectified.

Personally dont use exchanges or online brokers for that reason. Still too wild west for this guy...

Coinbase is safe I think .

I can not step out on a limb and store coins on my own computer. What's interesting is all the bad news Bitcoins have absorbed. I would of thought the price would crash with their leading exchange disappearing. Nope. Closing in at $600 this AM.

Coinbase is pretty legit from my understanding as most customers coins are stored in vault offline (given things as they are id get that confirmed personally)...

Yes im surprised at the bounce back (but not really) here but thats the huge upside of this in that its the community that dictates where this goes and not a handful of corporations with controlling interests...

Full steam ahead walker (barring major ddos attacks lol)...

    Hi XXXX,

Good news. You can now buy and sell more bitcoin on Coinbase.

We've raised your limits to the following:
Buy Limit: 85.95 BTC per day
Sell Limit: 85.95 BTC per day

You can view these limits at any time from the verifications page.

You can visit the buy page now to start a new purchase.

    Thank you for choosing Coinbase!

    Kind regards,
    The Coinbase Team

Very strange. All I had to do is make a few critical posts and my limits went from 5 a day to 85. So I grabbed 25 let's see if the curse of the forum takes over from here.

I'm staking out a long term position. I figure they could be $5,000 or 0 in five years. Kind of like betting a sports future. I'm a bit of a bear long term on the dollar so a debt free and finite currency is in my investment wheel house.

BTW, as this Gox situation fades I'll predict we settle into a range of $675 to $775 by April.

Slight recovery back to $570. Good to see. $545 is proving to be a very short term support level.

Passive money making is a beautiful thing...

Walker have you downloaded the blockchain yet??

Id be hitting coinbase up and asking them how their security protocols differ from Goxes because if they can hack gox and empty accounts then how would coinbase be any different?

    Food for thought...

Did this ever happen to anyone else who used coinbase?

When BTC was cheap I went through all the verification's they asked for and made my account 100%
I bought 3 BTC and they canceled it because BTC went from 100$ to 700$ during the processing week

Sounds dodgy although they probably would have had to file for bankruptcy had they honoured everyones transactions during that time.

Glad I keep away from these places. Sounds like too much trouble. ..

    $566.20 1762.48663604 $997,919.93

That's a $1 million dollar bid on Bitstamp for 1762 Bitcoins. Pretty cool.

    Wow!

Has to be more to the story.

They are quirky but that would be borderline fraud. They may have pinged your bank account or ran a credit report. I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt unless they do it to me. LOL.

They have some incredible rudimentary rules. I can not sell coins I bought a week ago and they took the $ out of my checking acct days ago. I'm in a 5 day business day hold. Like WTF is that? It's really worse than it sounds. I buy for cash but I can not sell for a week. What if the price plummets? Too bad soo sad. I even wonder if they don't have some kind of liability with that rule...ie not allowing someone to sell well after he paid cash. ??

There were some huge bids over night but settled back. The positive in this is BTC's had been flirting with breaking support at $540ish and held. The Gox stink will slowly fade and interest will renew.

Agree with both you and Acoochy. Bitcoin level of resiliency is mind boggling. That mtgox didn't crush it proves only a cataclysmic event will stop this currency.
