because we had a huge party in that room with like 30 people. for me vegas isnt to gamble either i can do that at one of the 35 casinos within 10 square miles of my hometown. What chick dosent want to go up to the penthouse.

plus why even go to Vegas if your going to be cheap, and im not saying the op is cheap hes just looking out for his friend. sucks going to Vegas with broke people though. This last time i went, i went with 6 other people who just graduated college and there parents were all balling and i have a pretty good job so it was great. Nothing worse than deciding to get eat or go to a club and money is a issue for someone so you have to settle for less.

How much time will you spend in your room anyway? My parents stayed in the tower and it was fine.

Circus Circus is full of kids and their trashy families. There are plenty of cheap places elsewhere. IP, Ballys, Terribles (3 blocks east of strip behind Ballys), downtown, etc.

Stay somewhere off-strip or the Golden Nugget downtown and rent a car... You will get a nicer room, save money on cabs (if you stay somewhere like Circus Circus you going to going to be using them), and have mobility to do stuff anywhere in or around Vegas...

I don't know why no one ever recommends Paris. I stay there almost every time I go. It's not that expensive, the location is great as it's right in the middle of the strip and directly across the street from the Bellagio, and the rooms are nice. The last time I was there I played $25 blackjack, craps, and PaiGow in their casino a bit using my Harrah's card. The rest of the time I was out walking around with the group I was there with playing in other casinos. When it came time to check out and I did it via the TV in the room, it asked me if I wanted to use my player points to discount the room. I clicked yes and my room came out to be about $45/night.

Can't beat that if you ask me.

circus circus was my favorite as a kid cause they have arcade and carnival games. explains why so many families with kids go there, just drop them off upstairs while they gamble all day downstairs.

funny that everyone dumps on cc for being dirty but it was a 5 diamond resort, aria, which recently had a breakout of the legionnaires disease.

cc and stratosphere are perfectly fine if you plan on spending all day at nicer hotels and just need cheap beds to sleep in. the only downside is the distance.

or stay at harrah's, flamingos, ip or bills gambling hall which are cheap and centrally located. the orleans is also cheap and much nicer but located off the strip. they do offer free shuttles to the strip every 30 mins.

or name your own price on priceline.com.

I actually found a better deal at Tropicana... Sounds like that might be a much better option than Circus Circus.

Cabs will make you go broke in Vegas, either have a rental car or ride the bus..

Horrible advice!! If you tak a can from MGM to the Wynn basically south strip to north it'll be about 12 bucks, if their are 3 or 4 of you that's 3 bucks apiece for a ride, if u are drinking even a little you'd be a fool to rent a car!! Cans aren't that expensive split between a few people not much more then renting a car if at all! Not too mention driving on the strip isn't for everyone, it's frustrating tedious and might help ruin a trip!!! DUI and car accidents aren't worth it!! Staying off the strip will not save u enough money to warrant taking 20-30 minutes to get there! If you are spending three days in Vegas you'd rather spend an hour in the can instead of 3, to save mate ten bucks each??? Horrible advice!!

Stratosphere is gross, it's next to the Projects (not kidding). So... you'll find a lot of project-people gambling there. It's a step above Circus because it has no kids. I can't be really honest and tell you what the Strat is really like... because the SBR police will be on me... but, I'm sure there's reviews that will tell you (clue: it rhymes with Tigger) and those reviews are all true.

I'd recommend Imperial Palace, Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's or for the ultra-cheap, Orleans. Imperial and Harrah's is a dump but it's smack in the middle of the action. Flamingo and Bally's is ok, but tad pricier, and it's next to Cesar, Bellagio and Planet Hollywood.

Orleans is dirt cheap, but it's off the strip, but they have a very popular shuttle that leaves every hour to go to the strip and it's free. You'll also find a boatload of degens there and there's pubs and strip clubs galore around the hotel.

    Hope that helps.
Last time I was in Vegas a cabbie told me that the Strat won't rent rooms to the locals because they steal everything from the rooms!

Check rates at Treasure Island. Great location and should be reasonably priced. Anything north of Wynn on strip is for gangbangers, trailer trash and dump divers.

They send mailers to locals. Cabbie was full of shit. Only locals that stay there are working girls doing incalls. The only thing that could have hurt locals rep at a shithole like Strat is fishdick going through trash.

I last stayed at the circus circus around 1985. they had 99 cent shrimp cocktail and beer. Haven't stayed since, but you can get good deals both on and off the strip, look around.

Look for Ballys North Tower, it's fairly clean good enough and great location, or harrahs. I'd recommend those 2 for the location and it's usually fairly cheap

Ballys is a great bargain...... good rates and prime location. Spacious, clean rooms. You can easily walk across to Caesars or Bellagio, and there is a tunnel to Paris.

I stayed at Circus Circus when I was like 10 years old and it was great for that. I'd recommend staying at the New York New York if you can afford a little more. Great food and eye candy.

You would have a better time using that money to have a night on the town in your suburban bar area.
This is what you should be listening to. First off, don't travel with broke buddies. Not only can you not stay anywhere nice, you can barely ever go out and do anything. Leave him at home, bring him next year.

ive been going to vegas since the 80s and stayed at paris, mgm, ny, aladdin, mandalay bay, cc, stratosphere, hilton and just about every hotel. you name it and i probably stayed there. but the last thing i remember is what the rooms were like.

my point is, you dont need to stay at a lavish 5 star hotel to have a good time. you will remember the fun you had gambling, sightseeing, meeting people, etc. the last thing you should remember is where you slept. you coukd stay at a hostel for $10/night and you will still have a good time.

oh and vegas.com is the worst place to get a hotel. try kayak.com instead.

Im not going to pretend im young anymore at 48 so i do not know how to think like im 21.Southpoint is my fav stayed there four 4 days at 155 but it is far from the strip so you need a car which is not good if your going to drink.Circus Circus is awful, very crowded very tight inside and hard to move felt like it was 150 degrees inside.Imperial Palace is very cheap but that place is worse then CC.The rooms are very old bathroom showers were all cracked and corroded.MY Main complaint about the IP Are the FREAKIN ELEVATORS,The elevator lobby always has at least 200 people waiting each time your packed in like sardines.Last time i stayed there was maybe 04 i started walking down the stairwell from the 9th floor but so was half the hotel and i thought i would be really smart and walk up the stairs only to find the door locked.

You can tell it is dated. The sportsbook looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 70's. Not sure about the rooms though. I stayed at Excalibur and that place was decent for the price.

Circus Circus is way to far . Hooters is much better choice , check-in is a snap, decent rooms , easy parking . Tropicana is a good choice as well but cost a little more .

you have not been to Vegas lately. Freemont East is getting legit. Area is much improved. Much more likely to get in some shiz around Strat.

I would recommend downtown for CHEAP rooms and a good time. The deuce is $7 for a 24-hour pass. It takes about an hour to get from downtown to the strip on the bus, but if you just make one round-trip a day it's not that bad or if you have 3 dudes you can split a cab fare for about the same price. Only decent sb in downtown to watch a game is golden nugget, all others are terrible, but Insert Coins is actually a decent spot to watch a game.

    My 2 cents.

Leave the broke guy at home. Nothing worse than an epic trip to vegas, that never gets epic, due to the one brokkedikk in the group.

Especially if you rarely go to vegas. I used to go 2 times a month and learned quickly to leave the pennypinchers/brokeass at home.

    Dont rent a car.
Trop is slightly better than cc and closer to the action

Been to Vegas about 20 times. I have stayed everywhere from the shit ass hostel next to the Strat in 1997 to the Bellagio in 2008. CC is kinda crap considering for what you want. I ahve been the broke dick before and its no fun. But if you have to bring your bro then do it. Downtown is a great place to stay. The Golden Gate is one of the best cheap places to stay. Vegas has everything for everyone, but yeah youre not going to be sleeping what more than 4 hours a night? Go mid level and save some green, more to gamble and take a cab ride to the Hilton with the best sports-book out there. I am a rare sight, I Rent a car when I go and don't drink much and stay away from the strip. The local casinos outside of town if you have a car have the best odds documented on everything.

Just a heads up about renting a car.Last time I went out to Vegas stayed at one of the Station Casinos in North Vegas.I got caught in the
5 PM traffic heading off the strip, what a cluster fuk, people drive like nuts.

One night we were waiting for a buddy of ours in one of the casinos on the strip,My buddy got rear ended driving down the strip.
    Driving in Vegas,can get crazy.
