    Anyone Use Dual Monitors?

I use to but took up way to much ram and computer resources. I think you have to buy a PC ready to handle the laod. It is nice though to have. Does anyone else have it?

I use two. Its very nice because I can work on one and screw off on the other. Then I slightly turn one monitor so the boss cant see it, he only sees the work one. Pretty cool.

So, SBR John, WHO is the boss? I am convinced jj and his alter-ego Raiders are actually in a position of power over at SBR Towers. Which is concerning.

    jj .. I cant decide. Either :

    a) you are on the top floor of SBR Towers behind a bank of monitors posting left, right and centre ... basically, calling the shots to get SBR trucking. Id even imagine that your a compassionate boss, yet within a severe business drive. Though your employees may be sceptical.

    or

    b) you have quite a bit of spare time on your hands (for some reason 'disability pension' springs to mind) and, through a drunken/drugged haze imagine all you think is in fact real. And sit behind a bank of monitors posting left right and centre.

What is real and whats not? ... that is probably a question which has puzzled more than me (your psychiatrists for a start) ... we need statement from the top on this.

natrass I do drink from time to time and Johhny Walker Black. I use to actually have 15 monitors in my prime testing line services as that is why I know everything about them and if they deliver or not.

Natrass lets bang the bookmaker today. We need Michigan early to get on top.

If you have a laptop with a VGA out you should be able to have two monitors (including the laptop's). If you want to add monitors to your desktop you just need a couple of Nvidia video cards. They all use the same drivers so two different cards shuldn't conflict. Nvidia

You have to watch though what type of power these cards have

Some are stronger than others and put a big strain on pc

I was thinking about adding a second monitor but just decided to buy a cheap laptop and set up wireless internet... have two screens with the option of mobility... can't beat that..

    Herbie,
Now you have the ability to add a third!

I posted this before but they really are pretty. Might make a good prize for a contest someday.

No one has ever told me JJ gold is a boss. A few of these SBR guys are a little strange. I get a kick out of them because they wear these 3 piece suits and have i think nail polish, like clear coat. Their hair is greased back like that Riley the coach of the Heat and they wear shades indoors.

Put it this way,,,, the petty cash in the SBR office ALWAYS balances.

I like the laptop solution as the second monitor rather than having 2 regular monitors and plus it is another computer

If you have a PC within the last decade you should be able to plug in a dual VGA/DVI card and run a dual setup, even if you don't want to run two vid cards. The power consumption should be minimal with systems these days, if not, you're power supply is probably weak and can't handle the extra load so just get a new system to replace the IBM 5100 you're probably running.

When running data modeling it's nice to have multiple monitors. Couple of ssh sessions into my sql server, sbr chat window up (hey, chatting is serious business), couple of other websites, usually a movie going, mysqladmin connected to my sql server, couple of modeling apps up, a window up with current lines/odds of ncaab, a couple of browsers open for php/sql data manipulation, etc. The extra monitors provide much needed real estate on the desktop side.

I have dual monitors for trading. It comes in very handy, as you can look at graphs on one, and trade on another.
My friend (pro trader) has 8 monitors. He doesn't use them all now, but he did when he traded with different strategies.
    dual = awesome

I would say for data modeling, data mining, and data manipulation, multiple monitors is required to be remotely efficient.

I have 2 24" widescreen monitors, and there's no way I'd ever go back to a single monitor. I don't even like using my laptop anymore.
