I highly recommend reading Anthem by Ayn Rand as well. It's just over 100 pages and was written in the late 1930's. It sort of has a similar theme as the books 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and The Giver(all great books btw). I always recommend people read Anthem before they take on the much larger books by Rand like The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged.

I have one of his books at home (The Footprints of God), never got around to reading it yet. Was about to start Men Who Hate Women from Stieg Larsson's Millenium series, but might give this one a go first.
yea if you could, read the spandau phoenix and black cross. it takes place during nazi germany but you will not want to put it down. makes you go and look up facts afterwards since it's so interesting. after you read those, you will want to read his other books which are pretty good also...

I love the Long Walk! I've always sort of wanted them to make it into a movie. I think it could be really good if done right.
