What is the crowd supposed to do when he announces that Gabby opened her eyes for the first time, boo? I felt the reaction was awkward, but I kept reminding myself that the majority of the crowd were college age students that probably didn't know the proper way to act in this situation. I think the families of the victims are the only ones that can truly evaluate the appropriateness of the memorial. If this event helped them in the grieving process in the loss of their loved ones, then who are we to judge?
I would imagine that any president in this situation would have spoken in the wake of such an event. Let's not forget that a federal judge was killed in this event as well.
