Right now, just going on the past 10 days/2 weeks, UConn is playing national championship caliber ball.

The two monster white pivot men, Clingan and Karaban are playing like the Mailman and Shaq, then there's the other beast Sanogo, Jordan Hawkins is shooting lights out and is an All American guard, factor in Newton, Johnny 'California' off the bench and his unlimited range, and a HC Hurley who rarely makes coaching mistakes...

    Hmmm,
All America PG play, monster rebounders, three of them, that lead the NCAA in team rebounding, and a smart HC.
Sounds like a recipe for a deep March run.

when edey gets into early foul trouble in the big ten tournament, and then the big dance? will be "big problems" for painter. I just hope they get a #1 and will see inflated lines, and solid opp's to fade them A-T-S

What if they lose their first game in the big ten tournament? I hope they get the one and it’s in the east like lunardi projects

Updated projections from Lunardi. Purdue hanging on as last #1 seed, but UCLA right on their heels

Lol anyone who thinks this Purdue team is even a No 2 seed is drunk. They are on the verge of blowing a 20-pt home lead to unranked Illinois.

Well Illinois beat both Texas and UCLA either road or neutral. So are they disqualified too? You can play that game with every team.

After getting rolled by IU twice I don’t think so even if they win the big 10 tourney, I could see another IU vs Purdue match up in the tourney tbh

The way I see it, as of right now, one hour before quarter final action kicks off today.

Houston is a lock for a #1 seed.

The fact that they play in a mid major conference (American) should not and will not be an issue.

Houston is 17-1 in league play (American) 29-2 overall.
Houston lost to a top ten Alabama by five points, and lost to conference foe Temple by a point.
    That's it.

No disrespect to Gonzaga and St. Mary's, Houston had the better season, and Houston knocked off St. Mary's earlier in the year.

Most of you all lean on the Pomeroy metrics, I lean on the Sagarin metrics, both are the two best at what they do, they both say the AAC and WCC were good, but AAC was slightly better.

What happens to UCLA if top ten Arizona should beat them for the PAC 12 championship?
If UCLA doesn't win out, they have no case for a top line.

What happens to Alabama if they should lost to Tennessee or Missouri if the winner of that game wins the SEC?

I'm conceding a top line to Houston.

If Marquette wins the Big East Tournament beating UConn later tonight and beats the winner of the Xavier/Creighton game later tonight, then Marquette should get a top line #1 seed too.

If Kansas beats the winner of the Texas/TCU game later, providing they get past ISU later than I reward Kansas the other #1 top line seed.

    Houston is in.

If UCLA wins the PAC 12 conference tournament, they earn a top line #1 seed.
If Kansas wins the Big 12 tournament, they earn a top line #1 seed.
If Marquette wins the Big East tournament, they earn a top line #1 seed. In my opinion.

The Big East and the Big 12 winners should be awarded the top seed along with Houston, providing it's Marquette and Kansas.

    Why?
The Big 12 is clearly the elite conference in the nation, followed by The Big East.
And if Alabama win the SEC tournament, they get the other top seed.

Purdue, in my opinion to get a top line #1, once again, just my opinion, this must happen.
UCLA, Alabama, Marquette, and Kansas all must lose.

And if Kansas loses to Texas, and Purdue wins out, I can make a very strong case for Texas as I think they too are better than Purdue.

it is too early to say.

check back on Sunday at 5:30 pm when all of the tournament champ games are complete.

    then we can tell you.

maybe against this field, they are deserving of a #1 seed.

question: prior to Painter taking over the HC spot in 2005, and since that time taking them to 5 Sweet 16's and One Elite 8, when was Purdue last relevant in hoops?

    Under Gene Keady?

he coached for 100 years it seems and had 3 Sweet 16's and 2 Elite 8's.

    (0) final 4's

    Painter is simply Keady 2.0

best thing that ever happened to Purdue sports was JOE TILLER who took that football team to the Rose Bowl and recruited Drew Brees to that school before that.

    RIP Joe.

Injuries are not part of the mathematical equation the committee uses to determine who is in, and who is out, and what seed a team is awarded.

they do actually factor it in but can still award the team a seed they believe is deserving on body of work.

see Kenyon Martin seeding for Cincinnati in 2000 right before tourney.

see Syracuse 2012 when their big man got hurt or suspended right before tourney.

Nothing would make me happier if those Jersey boys out of Fairly Ridiculous University knocked off Purdue this Friday.

Well, if Carrie Underwood were to go down on me and administer mind numbing skull, that would make me happier, but that's pretty much it.
