Historically b2b years being swept @ NY is uncommon, plus you have JJ mushing the yanks today.

Detroit can't beat the Yankees. Imagine being a pitcher and have to go trough the Yankees lineup twice. What do you throw? They hit everything.

I have all the previous games with lines in a database.

Used to be - 300 games you'd rarely see a run line under -170.
    (I double checked myself)

Now, you're right, these days you can get -140
    Sorry, I stand corrected.

I'm thinking the extra inning 'ghost runner' rule has something to do with that.

To the OP, sorry if I can across harsh, I don't know everything about everything.

Chapman goes down, and all of a sudden Clay Holmes is Cy Young.

Clay Holmes was a gas can in Pittsburgh, a shit bum, hamburger.

Holmes's pitching out of his shoes, 25 games in relief, WHIP of 0.6, given up just one run 0.34 ERA, strikes out over one an inning,

    Digest this.
Holmes is 4 -0, with eight saves, and seven holds all in relief.

Gave up an earned run on opening day, untouchable since.
From laughing stock in Pittsburgh, Yanks give the Pirates a box or rocks for him, and now he's the King of Sinker Balls.
All of a sudden he's the greatest closer since Mo with the greatest sinker ball since Orel Hershiser.

    4 wins
    8 saves
    7 holds

All in relief. Who does that?
Wins games, holds leads, saves games.
Next week he'll turn water into wine.

The Pirates? We are the worse run franchise in all of sports. We gave Cole away for nothing, and then gave Musgrove who we got back for Cole away for nothing. Glasnow and Meadows basically for just Archer when he was way on his downside and unhealthy

You're a Pirates fan, I don't need to go into the details of what they gave away in their history,
My God, what happened, from Maz in the 60's to "We are Family" 1979 team of Stargell and Dave Parker who stunned Baltimore to win the WS.

Kent Tekulve used to throw that submarine pitch, dropped is arm to the ground, threw from the dirt.
For two decades they were in the Reds Big Red Machine class.
Pirates have given away in their history, let's see.

    Doug Drabek
    Jason Schmidt
    John Tudor

My dad will say Ralph Kiner.

My favorite, Pirates traded for a broken down Benito Santiago.
So broken down he caught four games after Pit traded for him, never to catch again.

Thing about it is, everybody in MLB knew Santiago was finished before the trade.

Yeah. Since the early 90’s. They just play for that Yankee check every year.

This question was posed to some of us analytics geeks last week.

I'm sure most of you are aware of the WAR metric is.

    (Wins Above Replacement)

    And the question was this.

If you assembled a twenty six man dugout, using the absolute best players (based on WAR) from 1 - 26

Best catcher in the game, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, and so on so forth.
Best five man starting rotation one - five, ditto bullpen.
Would that team consisting of the best of the best, the elite at every position, would they go a perfect 162-0
The answer all the analytics came up with in less than a second was a resounding NO

Not sure why you are all hating on ElGrecu. He gave you 4 easy winners in a row with Yankees. What else do you need? Do you need him to push the submitt button on your account to bet the Yankees? What else can he do?

    Game tied up.

I need the Yanks over 4.5 and have them parlayed -1 with the game over 7, so looks like I'm going to have to sweat this one out.

Yankees with multiple dead spots in the batting order

Hicks is just clueless at the plate
The catching position is almost an auto out
Gallo making contact is a minor miracle

Gallo may very well be the biggest whiff machine we've seen since Dave Kingman, and that includes Mo Vaughn.

I doubt he won. I thought he had Yanks on the run-line so that would be a loss.

Betting -200 line won't work either.
