Giants manager Gabe Kapler says he will skip national anthem going forward

    https://sports.yahoo.com/giants-mana...230434050.html

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler will no longer take the field for the national anthem after the horrific mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas that has sparked new debate over gun control and the role of the police in America.

Speaking with reporters before a game against the Cincinnati Reds, Kapler said he would only start coming out for the anthem if he felt "better about the direction of our country."

Colin Kap was right all along.... standing for national anthem means you just stand for the war profiteering. "Support the troops..." really means just accept the fact that the USA will always be at war

The only reason he is protesting the National Anthem is because he is free to do it in a country like this. Now if you really want to show some balls, protest a communist country like China and their human rights.

In most other countries they don't play the national anthem when they are is a national massacre. They have a moment of silence.

We weren't at war under the Trump Presidency and we aren't at war now under Biden so far.

Taking it away and ignoring it when they play it is a different issue. It’s an opportunity to make a “stand” as much as anything. Wouldn’t mind it if they only played it at national events personally.

I’d imagine every game had a moment of silence. I was at the pirate game on Wednesday and they did not have one, but Tuesday night would have been the first game after

Here’s the thing…it looks like in this country you can murder multiple children and people will say it’s sad and give their useless “prayers” and then it’ll just go to business as usual because a lot of people only care about themselves or money.
I have no problem with what he’s doing because what some of the ignorant fools in this thread seem to miss is by doing what he is doing it gets national attention. Will it change anything? Probably not but as Kapler what else can he do? He can’t compete with the money and he can’t change the laws so he’s trying to keep the conversation going.
Some of you guys shock me how you can’t see the purpose here. But it’s ok you don’t care about kids getting murdered. You only fake care because you don’t want to be look at as a maniac by your peers. Keep doing your “prayers” which is just penetrating worthless

95% of Americans don’t know who Gabe Kapler is and the other 5% don’t care.

He can get on with his bad self, hopefully he feels cool.

Going after objects is just plain lazy. It's the heart that needs to be changed. You can take away all of the guns, knives, vehicles, flamethrowers, etc., but if you can't mend the hearts, evil will always find a way to progress further. This has been building for generations with fatherless families, divorces, God taken out of the mainstream, the normalization of perverted behaviors, etc. Throw the gasoline of social media on top of it, and this is what you get. It's not one thing. It took generations to build up to this, and it would take generations to move the needle back. The thing is that a lot of people can't see this because they have no idea what it was like when higher values had a bigger hold on society. All they've seen is this circus and they can't relate to anything else.

But no one is doing anything. We havent seen anything. Fine if its not guns then lets see some attempts at something. I bet if there were actions being put into place even if it wasnt guns he wouldnt be doing this.

As for your other points, we are going to disagree on religion. I would say religious beliefs are one of the biggest reasons we have division in this country but thats for another day.

If he believes in it, so be it. Better than a bunch of fukks here pretending they know it all. I'd say your stance would be different if it was your kid getting blown away but we all know most of you broke mother fukkers can't afford to have a kid. Stand down and shut your pie hole.

Good for Kapler. 19 4th graders murdered and nothing will be done because conservatives love their weapons more than they love their children. They talk about being the pro family and pro life party but do nothing to stop the violence. Then they lie about the police going in heroically to stop the attack when they waited over an hour because as the cop said well they could have been shot or killed. Conservatives you are the problem. America the greatest nation on earth being ruined by conservatives.

Also your solution of a culture shift means we are going to have 50-100 or more shootings before those changes are put into place which at this point we havent seen any attempt at doing that. Why not at least make background checks more extensive? No one is saying just eliminate guns off the face of the earth but why is it so bad to make a background check that dives a little more into a person to make sure they are a responsible adult. Also why not have a person have to take a gun safety course? Why are these steps so frowned upon?

He have every right to protest, I'm more than OK with that, my problem is he's bringing attention to himself, tje same way Hollywood actors and musicians like Springsteen did when they said if Bush wins they're leaving the country.

Long story short, Bush won and Springsteen still lives in that mansion in Jersey.
    That's both grandstanding and hypocritical.

I disagree with this. Lets face it a normal person cant bring people together as much as someone who is famous can. Why should they be looked at as someone trying to get "15 minutes of fame" just because they believe in a cause and would like to see changes?
What is the best way to make change happen? Is it Susie on her street block running a shitty bake sale that 8 people will attend or is it someone who can make a national headline and draw people to get off their lazy asses and make some noise?
I mean with your thoughts MLK is just a grandstander, he had an audience so instead of fighting for things he believed in and trying to get others to as well he should have shut his mouth and said nothing in fear that people think hes just doing it to show off

Apples and oranges, that's what MLK did, that was his life's calling.

Sports figures and actors don't belong in that sentence with MLK.

At best, very best, the Hollywood types that said they're leaving if Bush won was hyperbolical (stretching the truth to make a point) at worse, grandstanding an hypocritical

Disagree Nash. I believe he's trying to bring awareness that these types of killing must stop. Don't care which side you're on. Imagine if everyone forced a change instead of offering thoughts and prayers.

If you're a banger/thug/crook, you chose that life. Kids dying in schools is unacceptable and didn't have a choice.
