Edit by SBR: The OP confirmed via email the wager was regraded.
This is my first post at SBR in ages but I was a long time Majorwager poster but am mostly Twitter these days. I am only saying this to establish that I am not a rebel rouser.
Full disclosure: I had a max wager on Lewis Hamilton to win the Canadian Grand Prix (F1) race today at 5dimes. Been playing with them for decades. Never an issue.
Problem: Around the midpoint of the race, Sebestien Vettel was accessed a 5 second time penalty for unsafe return to the course (he blocked Lewis Hamilton from passing and taking race lead). Just to be clear, this penalty happened during the race and not after the race. The way this works in F1 is that if Vettel pitted he would have been held for 5 seconds. Since he did not have another pit stop at the conclusion of the race 5 seconds are immediately added to his final time at the finish line. This is standard F1 stuff and not uncommon.
Result: Lewis Hamilton followed Vettel around and passed the finish line directly behind Vettel. Hamilton was immediately declared the race winner by 3.6 seconds after the 5 seconds were added and took the winners spot on the podium. This all occurred instantaneously at the finish line of the race and not hours after.
5Dimes Rule: “All wagers are graded immediately at a race's conclusion. Unofficial results at that time are used for grading purposes.” The intent behind this is that often in motorsports cars are assessed penalties days later in post race inspections, stewards rulings, etc. so a sportsbook is not going to regrade the wager days later after said penalty. I fully understand and agree with that rule.
How all other sportsbooks graded the race (including Vegas): Lewis Hamilton was graded the winner. Confirmed with the director of the Las Vegas Superbook (who has functionally identical rules to 5dimes). 5 seconds were added to Vettel's final time and he was graded 2nd.

How 5dimes graded the race: Sebastian Vettel was the winner. After hours with two different 5dimes managers tonight, the best response I got was (and I quote): “We grade this using the live video. Not an "unofficial source" as you are referring.” For the record, my “unofficial source” was a screenshot of the F1 website at the conclusion of the race which showed the unofficial result of Hamilton 1st and Vettel 2nd.
Effectively what they told me is that they graded on visual finishing position based on their judgement and do not use any sort of official vendor of data for grading purposes. This is not their posted rule.
My belief is that since F1 is not a high volume bet, that I likely was their biggest liability. So they made up a new rule about “finishing position” which is not how any other book graded it that I am aware of and is also not their own official rule.
My hope is that a SBR mod might be able to help me to get this correctly graded but if not then I wanted to post this for full awareness.
