As of today Governor Holcomb has not signed this bill. He has three options: veto, sign in to law, or do nothing and let it go to law without his signature. He is saying that he is taking his time to read the bill to go over the fine details of the new law to make sure he is comfortable with the language. I am getting a little nervous now but still feel it gets signed.

Remember that one time someone talked about legal sports betting in their state and JJ jumped in the thread and trolled about how it sucks how great online is?

Oh wait, that’s every thread like this.

Indiana already has casinos, it makes no sense they'd draw some arbitrary line against gambling.

Sports gambling always had the seedier image. The poker lobby threw sports bettors under the bus when they were trying to save online poker.

Holcomb got caught taking private plane trips with casino operators prior to the legislation and the Dems went nuts after it was discovered but the Republican leadership still claim Holcomb will sign the legislation but it is unusual for the delay. Hopefully it gets signed this week.

Illinois is going to be like NY soon if they don't pass a bill themselves, all of Chicago is going to drive across the border to place bets legally on their apps.

yes and you also create more bookies, because people tell their friend to throw $100 on the cubs, pretty soon the friend says "this is stupid why don't i just keep the juice, and my friends are losers anyway"

I've said this before, the O'Hare casino is not as good as the NW indiana ones, and it's not a Caesar's property either.

My feeling is that far more people will go to Hammond, anyway.

The IL legislator's are on crack. Did you see the recent suggestion of casino fees, one time payments, or revenue sharing? It's 4x the neighboring states in some instances. Indiana is ~30 minutes away for most people in Chicago.

Ex-NFL LB Napoleon Harris is a Illinois state senator. He wants a 12.5% tax on the gross.

Unless you live out by O'Hare or North, its much easier to go to Hammond, you're correct.

The Blue Chip in Michigan City has started a big expansion, assuming that will be the sportsbook.

Have you contacted them about the opportunities? July 1st is coming up shortly when the law goes in effect so I assume they have the ball rolling in preparations. I wonder if we will have to register in person and if so I might see you there sometime. Shelbyville is the closest location for me.

The only thing that puts a crimp in going to Hammond is paying $10+ on the Skyway to go to Hammond where you don't at O'Hare. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal if you're planning on gambling way more than that; it's just the rip off feeling like parking fees in Vegas.

even if you're gambling more than that, the $10/time is still an irritant

from here someone is way better off taking the bus, to horseshoe in hammond it costs $32 but they give you $10 free play and a free buffet
