when folding phones make a comeback but with folding screens this time it's going to be yuuuugeee for samsung and apple. Samsung rumored to have one next year. Has the potential to cause a huge wave of upgrades, even I would want one and that's saying something from a consumer demand perspective.

Article could be biased given that it fails to mention Apple's folding phone plans. It does mention apple screen plans and pricing, but Apple told analysts last March that they were working on a folding iphone that doubles as a tablet for 2020 release.

But Samsung is releasing sooner so it addresses apple's presence at that time...

Samsung apparently believes that this design will enable it to offer a 7-inch screen in a pocketable form factor — a size larger than 2017-vintage Pixel XL and Plus-sized iPhone screens. Unfolded, the surface area would indeed be closer to a tablet than a phone.

But display improvements are enabling new phones to offer nearly 7-inch screens without requiring folding. By September, Apple is expected to include a 6.5-inch screen in the iPhone X’s larger-sized sequel, which will use bezel reductions to squeeze that larger display into a chassis sized like the iPhone 8 Plus.

if you think about the form factor of the smartphone nothing really has changed in 10 years except the phone getting bigger. They have more features and edge to edge screen so small design changes but the form has not meaningfully changed, still a bar. Smartphone sales are dropping off because there is no excitement anymore. It has been a decade of the same thing and now there is not much left to add for the masses except 5G and cloud gaming. 5G is huge and will sustain apple and Samsung for at least one more cycle but that's not the phone itself driving sales. Apple and Samsung must come up with something new, there is no choice.

Folding phone should restart another 8+ years of phone upgrades. The potential of what you could do with a folding phone, 5G and upcoming new chips could drive sales for many years.

As far as the week goes, it's all about earnings with the heavyweights reporting. AMZN on the 26th. And GDP on Fri.

Saw that, Netflix is going to have a comedy channel on SiriusXM.

Netflix is in the radio business now.

    Tesla dropping.

I saw last night, on CNBC Europe that Musk asked suppliers for refunds on already complete contracts to help with the numbers.

    Whaaat?

He tried to sell it as being an investment for both automaker and supplier going forward.

How can Wall Street take this stock seriously? Any fund managers must be laughing at the strategy.

Crazy. Tesla is the ultimate speculation.

I don't favor excess lititgation, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Musk sued for the comments by shareholders.

He can afford it, I suppose.

Can't sue Trump, but shareholders could make a case against Musk, for sure.

Amazon taking over, what's Trump going to do? They'll off cheaper drug prices, Trump wants that.

They will offer cheaper products for consumers, jobs, you name it.

But Trump wants a piece. If he taxes them through the post office, Bezos will grow his own delivery service, even Uber style, creating more jobs.

Amazon can be like McDonald's and just control its supply and distribution chains.

Crazy tweets and memos this week.

Overall I agree with Roy, I'm bullish once again for the week.

You talking the credit card co? This one?

Looking for all time record earnings on Friday. Not over valued at 2.5x book.

This guy never kept up with his big brothers V & MA.

I don't know about this week but you will make a killing on this longer term. It should double in 4 or 5 years at the most.

Yep, DFS. Decent 2% dividend and reasonably valued. Recent news of huge buybacks forthcoming. Maybe I'll just open a long play. If it does pop on earnings this week it will be tough to fight the urge to sell it. Gambler in me always wants to move on to the next idea.

While I've never sold a stock at a loss I have all too frequently sold too early. Sometimes much to early. Can't help myself.

WH readies plan to extend 12 Billion dollars in emergency aid to farmers caught in Trumps escalating trade wars...

This is nothing but a tax on hard working Americans...This is what economist said would happen and some on here are so

delusional you keep pumping up tariffs saying their so great for America..

Got in around $73.20 this morning. Think there is room to run assuming card spend was up along the lines of the big banks. Their numbers could be even better because of who they are targeting recently with offers. Lower income/ lower credit applicants are swiping away right now and Discover has moved a little further into that market. If it doesnt pop as expected I'll just hold it. Essentially no risk and as Mr. BACON pointed out it will move forward- if not now, later.

delusional you keep pumping up tariffs saying their so great for America..

    Short term thinking here.

Tariffs are not being raised because high tariffs are so great for America, it's an attempt to shake up the already unfair trade environment to pull America out of the disadvantaged position they have been in and to fight back against manipulation and intellectual property theft.

With the economy running so well and some Asian economies not so much, it is a good time for the battle.

It is a battle that needs to happen, regardless of who is in the White House.

This is good for the future.

That would be fine if i thought someone was negotiating for me other than trying to bully countries via Tweets....Just wait, these tariffs will soon effect your stock positions. Last week it was Alcoa, this week it's Whirlpool. Who will it be tomorrow? Who will Trump bail out tomorrow and make the hard working Americans pay for his BS....

The US is acting for a future position and willing to put resources back to the US for the short term, for that longer game gain.

Money will get printed either way, can't stop it, at least some of it comes back to the US base.

We've seen far too many Presidents get the money printed, then give to another country or even bail out a bank, who turns around and invests globally with the help (BAC).

QE and the Fed force inflation, can't stop that, no matter the President.
