I like the corn flour crust at Gino’s. It is unique.
    No, it wasn't deep dish.

Just a nice 3 cheese pie.

That's another thing... usually I like my pizzas fully loaded with toppings. This one was only 3 cheese and blew me away.

    NY style is my favorite.

I also like Ledo Pizza out of Maryland. If you’ve never had it, it is really it’s own thing, I highly recommend if you see one. Stealthy and Manster will vouch for this.
No lie I once at ledos pizza nightly for about 3 months.

I miss living across cross the street from one.

Weird bar setting tho, never really liked the crowd. Too old, beaten down.

Very underrated pizza there. Either that or it was an off day for them, I dunno.

Then the next day, walking around Chicago I go into some random pizza place to grab a slice and a beer. It was some little hole in the wall and I cannot remember the name of the place. it was the best pizza I ever had in my life. Wish I could remember the name.
Gino’s East is expanding to Los angeles.

Will I make the drive to try it?

    No.

    Why?

Well, because if it sucked in Chicago then I can only imagine how bad it will be in LA.

It is heaven on a paper plate.

The story is that they put the cold cheese on top to save the drunk college kids from 3rd degree mouth burns.

What didn’t you like about it? Have any other Chicago style deep dishes?

Maybe just not your thing. It is different than other Chicago pizza in that the crust is made with a cornmeal/flour base. Definitely different.

Funny story... they opened a Giordano’s (one of the Chicago deep dish staple places) in my town.

One of of my associates visited with them, before their grand opening. They gave him a couple thin crust pizzas to take with him.

Just so happened the corporate head chef was in attendance at the new soon to open location.

I am sitting there eating the pizza he brought back to the office as my pal tells the story thinking “fuk this tastes like Ledo pizza”

And my buddy says “The corporate chef says, ‘you’re gonna love those! It will be your favorite pizza!’”

My buddy says something like, “That’s a tall order”

    Corporate chef guy says, “Ledo????”

My buddy is like, “ No, [insert some shitty local place]”

And I say, “Holeeee fuk!!!! They are purposely copying Ledo!!!”

I am around a bunch of fukking Hoosiers so they didn’t get it, but no shit, Giordano’s thin crust is a ripoff of Ledo pizza and it came straight from the horse’s mouth.
