John Clayton fired? You must be joking. I'm done with ESPN. You

I thought he was into of the untouchable. Stephen Smith has a job and the fire the best NFL insider they have?

Apparently they are going the way of the news networks and just want conjecture and hot takes, not smart analysis and information.

It has to be about salaries. Comparing a true professional like the professor to a racist clown like screamin A smith?

Boggles the mind. Who would you rather have a beer with and talk football: John Clayton or Jemele Hill? He gets his walking papers and she gets her own SportsCenter show. What a flawed business model. WTF?!

If ESPN gets out of this reconstruction phase... without selling... I'll be very surprised.

So stupid. That guy was great. Always had good NFL-insider nuggets.

I'm not racist or sexist at all. But I can't stomach one more time of seeing a black or woman tell me what I just watched. Just not interested.

PS, I haven't seen Berman on air since his wife passed tragically.

I wonder if that speeds up his retirement process.

    Disney Sports...
ESPN paid way too much for NFL programming when
Joes are pulling the plug and cable cutting.
    NFL viewership way down.
I view everything gratis on my MBOX.

    Clayton will be missed.

He was expendable because minimal people tune in to espn to watch his 2 minute clips. Clayton has a face better suited for radio and print anyways. Smith and Hill are annoying but they have followings.

Other than games, ESPN has been worthless for 5-10 years. Nothing but talk show jungle monkey TV.

Nailed it again. As usual, nobody understands business on this board.

Still rooting for ESPN to fail, and they've done a lot to make that happen, but this was not one of those things.

"I gotta watch Sportcenter tonight, John Clayton's gonna be on for 90 seconds" said nobody ever.

Who would have thought if they gave a homo tranny who likes to play "dress up" a courage award, their ratings were gonna tank? I'm sure there are other factors, but that's the one where they lost me.

What's crazy is there not even trimming the fat. They are literally firing their best talent, and dismantling their top-tier radio show as well

See I'm old school. I miss the OG Sports Center and NFL Primetime. I can get a full gamut of clips.

A lot of people on Twitter have been saying if I want to get some highlights I'll just look on my phone, but ESPN covered the whole game back to front and I didn't have to click on individual video links for each little highlight. That's why I love boom and TJ because they covered it all.

Clayton gave me great insight for us gamblers (or my personal team) because he was always right.

When they talk about reducing Berman's role and they fired at Werder I knew it was going down, but I never imagined Clayton was expendable

Hey, no doubt, it's sad that the great start-to-finish shows we were blessed to see back in the day have been sold for parts. But it's been that way for awhile. Plus, I cut cable and bought a FireStick, so I don't even watch Sportscenter anymore, and I'm no worse off for it.

From a business standpoint only, it made total sense. I don't think the fanbase they have left would even appreciate the guy for what he brings anymore.

sign of the times...I had no idea who jemele hill was but i knew before I googled that he/she wouldn't be white...not a flawed business model at all, espn knows what they are doing, might still be a sinking ship but they are not stupid...

Not surprised at all. For the last 2 years always been doing the remotes from this house. ESPN has enough NFL insiders that work the phones. They don't need someone pass their time.

Isn't that the broad with the big that offered to be an escort basically for Bears Super Bowl tickets. Only the best and brightest for ESPN.
