the worst part of the situation is coin base didn't recognize my face for 3 weeks. I was trying to deposit more money. So i lost the gain for the last 3 weeks. I finally had to shave my beard to get the damn site to recognize. I had that damn beard for 3 months.

hopefully Shaniqua or Laquanda gave you some play because of that beard because it cost you bitcoin money

Specifically, Charlie Lee revealed on April 12 that litecoin reached its 75 percent threshold for activation. After the initial approval, litecoin implemented SegWit upon the completion of its two-week lock in period.
In the monthly bitcoin price chart provided by various bitcoin market data providers including Cryptowatch, BTC-USD really began to surge when the 75 percent threshold for SegWit activation on litecoin was met.

Sorry, just saw the post. If lightening is implemented, it should give LTC a big boost. It will also help Bitcoin since BTC will follow with SegWit and Lightening.

I think it's hilarious that every coin, hell, ANY coin, that implements SegWit, leaps in price (EMC2 is the most recent; see also Siacoin's current rumor), despite the fact that the ONLY coin with any actual scaling problems is Bitcoin itself.

It's like if you owned a zoo that was 90% empty, with no lines to wait in and free admission, announcing that you'd just purchased a new, even bigger zoo that'll be 95% empty, also with no lines and free admission, and the market screaming, "Awesome Idea!"

Solid point, but I think the true motivation for all the alt coins racing to adopt SegWit is because for reasons passing understanding, the market goes nuts for it. EMC2 is up 150% the last 4 days because it's on the verge of adopting SegWit, to solve a scaling problem it most certainly does not have. (Otherwise, the alts probably wouldn't want to help BTC, their biggest competitor, "test drive" its scaling solution.)

Heh, don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled by this market misbehavior. Making money in alt coins is currently so easy you can sum it up in one sentence: join every slack chat, where you'll hear about SegWit developments 24 hours-ish early, buy ANY coin about to make a SegWit announcement, sell it 2 days later, pocket huge profits.

Good analogy. Lightning is the next thing to cause the huge price increases. It already did with Syscoin.

Terrific posts, Raiders. Bitstamp also did some foreshadowing today that (might) be related. They announced a new look format and also promised "more big news" coming tomorrow.

For those not privy to it, there's been a civil war raging in the Bitcoin community between two bitterly opposed camps on how to fix Bitcoin's increased usage (scaling) problems. If a compromise is reached along the lines of Raiders' posts, Bitcoin will jump, both in the immediate term and in the short to mid term, God only knows how high.

For margin trading, I use the Walmart Rule: I trade only in cash, when I can. Tonight, I'm taking the rare step of expanding my BTC holdings using margin.
