Haven't diversify my 401k in 2 years. Will do it once this fiscal cliff deal is done. This is the only thing holding investors back.

Fishbrains, you've been touting farmland as an investment for a decade on the forums now, but for the life of me I can't figure out why. Typically the best investment vehicles aren't cast as pearls before swine, the people aware of them want to keep them a secret to maximize the amount of time they have to acquire as much as they can. You certainly won't find me here telling everyone the ways I've found to increase my passive income, because more hungry people at supper time means less stew for everyone.

I think you're too busy trying to sound like a bigshot in forumville with your stories of being on the staff of the Cornhuskers football team and touting your precious farmland to really have much at stake in any of the choice investments you tout. You don't post like a success, you post like just another person desperate to be thought of as a success. Posting at EOG in tiny font about how many other forum "bigshots" owe you money doesn't exactly help your case either.

You've come off like a tool for years, and I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am that you couldn't keep your word about being done with posting for good.
How about you see if IA CORN FARMER would like to have SIX FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES instead of just the five he has now?

What's the jest of this question?

I guess it worked out ok, invested much of that money won from slots in farmland in 1999 and that investment has increased over 500% since then..............these past two years(at least for me, can't speak for other slot sharps), have only profited slightly from slots(under $20,000).......................and as far as video poker is concerned, the year 2012 is headed for a breakeven venture.............been a decent year in sportsbetting thank goodness.

If a deal gets done the market sparks up 2-3%. We know they are out until the 27th. We know they must have a deal by around 10 PM on the 29th to procedurally have it signed by midnight the 31st.

Since the 28th is a Friday here is your play:
Around mid day on the 28th simultaneously buy a Call/Put straddle on the SPY with a Jan 4th expiration. Sell both positions simultaneously an hour after the market opens on Tuesday. You will have only held the position for about 4 market hours(monday is a holiday) so worse case scenario is the market does absolutely nothing and both Cal and Put lose some time value. Best case is the market rises or falls a couple of percent causing a landfall profit.

The getting of the deal done is priced in. I wouldn't want to own stocks starting New Year's week. The market is in for a rough year. Why would you invest in the most unlucky year of all times, Year 2013?

I agree a deal is priced in. Still, there were a lot of sales against the box and other 30 day tax selling that 'could' spark an early rally on the 2nd. Plus, what is not priced in is no deal and congress already showed that its possible, although unlikely, a deal will not pass.

My play may not work, a deal is done as expected and stocks open on tuedsay where they closed. If so the play results in a lot of commissions and a small loss. But if something else happens it will be an easy double.

The fact that Walker is playing stupid/naive to the MAJOR arrests in the industry is a sign that he is either lying or not worthy of reviewing sportsbooks.

In fact, I'm surprised pinnacle didn't lose half a rating due to some of their top executives getting arrested. Despite them being the best in the world, Pinnacle is susceptible to problems just like any book; no one is perfect nor are they untouchable.

Realistically, these ratings should be easy to drop but hard to raise -- which just isn't the case. In such a volatile industry, it's best to play it safe but SBR doesn't care... They're all about the Benjamins.

Don't know you either, Fishbrains, nor do I want to. Mathdotcom doesn't know me, but let's not let details ever encumber either of you from your tireless self-promotion to the hoi polloi. We all know how the most successful people in a room are always the ones who can't stop reminding everyone they meet of the fact, right?

Doesn't change the fact that you didn't refute my claim because you know I'm right. If farmland were such a brilliant investment vehicle, then you wouldn't need or want to artificially inflate demand by pimping it to quite possibly the worst capitalized audience for any sort of sales pitch that doesn't involve debt renegotiation. You'd sit back acquiring as much as you could, confident that your predictions of market dynamics would eventually take it to your target valuation, without any need for an ad nauseum sales pitch to no less than five gambling forums, worthy of only the most shameless of Amway representatives.

And how dare you try to disparage anyone for how they make a living, after proudly declaring your C.V. to the forums including such illustrious positions as cab driver, Vegas sportsbook ticket writer, professional bonus whore, college football waterboy and dumpster diver? Add to that the amount of time both you and Mathy have invested as bona fide JJGold sycophants and I feel comfortable saying that you only wish you were able to be as fulfilled by your livelihood as I am.

Name even one decent book where an owner hasn't had a rap? Bookmaker.com's head guy spent 4 years in the slammer and they stayed at an A. Pinnacle is an A+ and they were popped as you mentioned. They won't miss a beat. Its part of the business. If BI wasn't mismanaged and had shmucks involved running it, it would be fine.

Every business is about the money Dj, its why you and me go to work. If you think SBR does a poor job then you are certainly entitled to that. I think our track record is still the best in the business but that's just my opinion .
