He knew when a player or coach took a dump,

Penn State gets a 4 year punishment for raping kids but Mike Vick gets 2 years jail for killing useless dogs.

Auburn paid Cam Newton and got nothing.

There is 0% chance that PSU is kicked out of the B10. There is more to PSU than their football program just to let you know. PSU fits the mold of a B10 university. It is a world-class, internationally recognized research university with an outstanding faculty. It is considered one of the top 50 universities in the world. It is a land-grant university and brings in a ton of revenue through external funding and other revenue sources. It has a student enrollment of over 40,000+. Conference affiliation means more than just sports.

i applaud the ncaa for not goofing around with this. penn st basically said have at it and they gave them this which is what they deemed as more leinient penalties then they would have gotten. if the big 10 kicks them out, they will likely never be relevant again, who would want to play at a dump in the middle of nowhere. as is, they have probably 8-10 years of futility ahead.
Then why is not Eastern Michigan in the B10? Or better yet, why was not Boise St invited to the Pac-12 and Utah was?
I agree, but we're obviously in the minority. There has to be some better way to "make a statement" to prevent this sort of thing from happening again than punishing tens of thousands for the actions of a few.
Not to mention the punishment was handed down without any independent investigation by the NCAA and was simply based on the Freeh report which is unreliable from a legal perspective (see Mitchell Report/Roger Clemens). That's not exactly due process.

I'm not pretending to be inside conference rooms when decisions are made. My point is, that if you think conferences are determined on factors other than sports you're delusional. Sports/Money. The educational system and faculty mean much much less.
The penalties handed down had to be tough and fairness is not their objective. The NCAA is sending a message to their members about institutional control or whatever they call it.

Penn State has the 3rd largest enrollment of all Big 10 schools
3 big 10 championships in the last 18 years
Beaver Stadium seats of 106,572 making it currently the 2nd largest stadium in the US and the 4th largest in the world, consistant sell outs
Minnesota, Indiana, and Northwestern are lesser schools who bring less income, interest and fan base to the table then Penn State did

Not as many as you think.. it is a HUGE party school. I live locally to a campus that just finished more student housing accepting 500+ more freshmen than last year. Penn State in this area is known where men can be players and the girls can get fukked/ up

as i disagree with the "white" part of this statement, i 100% have more compassion for animals than people. im sure ill get buried for this, but its just the way my brain is wired. i understand that what happened to those kids is egregious, but the vick story upset me a lot more. i can watch people hurting and dying on tv all day, but anything about abused animals, i have to turn the channel due to total disgust.

These sanctions are punishing only the innocent now.
The only justification for these sanctions is discouragement from any other university ever doing anything like this again. I think the civil suits are going to accomplish that anyway though.
good point, its not kids i see hurting and dying on tv. like i said, it was extremely egregious. i cried more when my last dog died than i did when my grandpa died. doesnt mean i didnt love him.
I think the people who feel more for animals than humans see humans as being... well, no human is innocent. Animals I guess can be considered innocent because they aren't smart enough to have malicious intent... but a child is still innocent to most people, so most people should still say children > animals as far as empathy.

Right so they've cleaned house and we're going to punish a bunch of student athletes by relegating the program to Div 2.
Everyone who had anything to do with this scandal is going to have their judgement day. Sandusky is going to get raped in prison and suffer until death before he goes to hell. Paterno is dead. Curley, Schultz, and Spanier will ultimately end up in jail.
You could argue the punishment was worse than the death penalty.
Dogs sit at these white peoples dinner tables like a member of the family. They think they are the dogs master yet they feed it and pick up its shit. I hate animals with a passion and have killed many.
