Disagree. Mike McQueerballs is the most to blame besides Sandusky. He was the ONLY person that knew these allegations to be FACTUAL.

If the guy had any pride, he'd have quit once he saw Sandusky still on campus with children. He had to have seen him around the last decade.

    You're wrong pwad,

Paterno was in charge, he knew everything that happened at penn state

He knew when a player or coach took a dump,

He knew sandusky molested kids and had a kids program.

What did he do about it?

Got rid of Sandusky as coach and nothing else.

Paterno got off easy with cancer

Joe Pa could have had a hit put out on Sandusky and had him killed... woulda been a legend even more than he would have been if this shit never happened. Like I said, he handled it wrong. I would have swept it under the rug but ALSO made sure someone put a bullet in Sandusky's skull.

Auburn paid Cam Newton and got nothing.
The current PSU players/coaches did nothing and got blasted off the face of the planet.

That is another way to look at it.

Who gives a Fukk about paying a player when compared to this shit, honestly......

The current players always take the brunt of it when a school gets in trouble.....NCAA is just punishing penn st as a university, no one is forcing any new recruits to go there and current kids can leave without penalty.....is what it is

There is 0% chance that PSU is kicked out of the B10. There is more to PSU than their football program just to let you know. PSU fits the mold of a B10 university. It is a world-class, internationally recognized research university with an outstanding faculty. It is considered one of the top 50 universities in the world. It is a land-grant university and brings in a ton of revenue through external funding and other revenue sources. It has a student enrollment of over 40,000+. Conference affiliation means more than just sports.

i applaud the ncaa for not goofing around with this. penn st basically said have at it and they gave them this which is what they deemed as more leinient penalties then they would have gotten. if the big 10 kicks them out, they will likely never be relevant again, who would want to play at a dump in the middle of nowhere. as is, they have probably 8-10 years of futility ahead.

I agree, but we're obviously in the minority. There has to be some better way to "make a statement" to prevent this sort of thing from happening again than punishing tens of thousands for the actions of a few.

Not to mention the punishment was handed down without any independent investigation by the NCAA and was simply based on the Freeh report which is unreliable from a legal perspective (see Mitchell Report/Roger Clemens). That's not exactly due process.

I'm not pretending to be inside conference rooms when decisions are made. My point is, that if you think conferences are determined on factors other than sports you're delusional. Sports/Money. The educational system and faculty mean much much less.

The penalties handed down had to be tough and fairness is not their objective. The NCAA is sending a message to their members about institutional control or whatever they call it.

    Crazy Statement
Penn State has the 3rd largest enrollment of all Big 10 schools
3 big 10 championships in the last 18 years
Beaver Stadium seats of 106,572 making it currently the 2nd largest stadium in the US and the 4th largest in the world, consistant sell outs
Minnesota, Indiana, and Northwestern are lesser schools who bring less income, interest and fan base to the table then Penn State did

The Big 10 has always cared about integrity and academics. Why do you think Missouri is not in the Big 10 right now?

as i disagree with the "white" part of this statement, i 100% have more compassion for animals than people. im sure ill get buried for this, but its just the way my brain is wired. i understand that what happened to those kids is egregious, but the vick story upset me a lot more. i can watch people hurting and dying on tv all day, but anything about abused animals, i have to turn the channel due to total disgust.

    Exactly.

The unversity, from the president on down, fostered an unhealthy climate
where the molestation and the destruction of the lives of BOYS was sweep under
the carpet for the sake of a football program.

Hell yes...the punishment was not severe enough. You are punishing an
inept, uncaring institution....not a bunch of precious student athletes.

The administrators, emplyees, coaches and alumni who knew and did nothing should all
    be brought to justice.

    Paterno got off easy.

There seems to be a disconnect. Anyone who was guilty of wrongdoing here will no longer be affiliated with PSU football.

These sanctions are punishing only the innocent now.

The only justification for these sanctions is discouragement from any other university ever doing anything like this again. I think the civil suits are going to accomplish that anyway though.

I think the people who feel more for animals than humans see humans as being... well, no human is innocent. Animals I guess can be considered innocent because they aren't smart enough to have malicious intent... but a child is still innocent to most people, so most people should still say children > animals as far as empathy.

Right so they've cleaned house and we're going to punish a bunch of student athletes by relegating the program to Div 2.

Everyone who had anything to do with this scandal is going to have their judgement day. Sandusky is going to get raped in prison and suffer until death before he goes to hell. Paterno is dead. Curley, Schultz, and Spanier will ultimately end up in jail.

You could argue the punishment was worse than the death penalty.
