I renewed my pro in December still don't get 1 year extension

    Edit by SBR Lou:
Correct. You renewed in December of 2011, so that your membership would not expire in January of 2011. Your status expires until January 5th, 2013.

there is no ongoing movement to legalize online poker or overthrow the UIGEA anymore. Its election year...Republicans would make this an issue if the Dems tried to ram this thru. A couple of sad political ads about underaged online gamblers having their parent's house repo'ed will stunt the movement further. 2013 is the soonest this will come up again.

    Guys,

It isnt that big of a deal. I mean currently is only cost $200 to go pro anyway. So you are not hurt hardly at all. You are going to still gamble on the internet arent you? It isnt that big of a deal

oh wow... I just realized that my Pro status was set to expire 3/3/12... If I had just sat on my hands and did nothing, I would have gotten a free year. Instead, I renewed the day I got the e-mail notification.

Oh well... great gesture by you guys John regardless! Still love the site and all the benefits... I just hope there aren't too many other changes coming that will be perceived as negative (i.e. store changes... and if there are, could we get some warning?)

I don't know. I may not now. I may just stop doing everything. I'm a 15%'er. I may occupy SBR, quit my job, and go on a hunger strike.

Well you're missing one point. Whether I gamble or not has no bearing...I can't use a sports book to go pro anyway. That's not SBRs fault obviously, but your point is moot.

If I become a pro say by fantasy which it appears to look like now can I get a year extension also? I can understand this and I was considering using the fantasy option anyway.

If we add "light $200 bucks on fire" as a go-pro option, you'll come out well ahead.

Hey guys I forgot to ask is there any other options that you are considering for US players here to become a pro maybe like adding on more fantasy options maybe? Anyone else got any ideas on this?

It is not really fair to those that renewed in Jan and Feb 2012 to expire before someone that hasn't renewed since march 2011

since others have been promoting charities they would like sbr to have, i would highly recommend children tumors foundation.
"The Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) is the leading non-governmental funder of research into Neurofibromatosis (NF). The mission of CTF is to find a cure to NF through support of research. Neurofibromatosis is the term for three distinct genetic disorders: Neurofibromatosis 1, Neurofibromatosis 2 and Schwannomatosis. NF affects all races, ethnic groups and both sexes equally."

it is something that i have been personally affected by and affects every 1/2500 births, and is a genetic disease that can be passed on.
" is a genetically-inherited disorder in which the nerve tissue grows tumors (neurofibromas) that may be benign or may cause serious damage by compressing nerves and other tissues."

although 99.9 percent of the time these tumors are not cancerous, unfornatley i was not so lucky.. it lead to my cancer diagnosis in 2005, MPNST or commonly known as NF-Sarcoma (same cancer as the guy from 50/50) Mine was very aggressive and needed a 28 hour operation to save my life. It has since affected my life tremendously, actually going in for my 5th spinal surgery in may some time.

not only does this charity sponsor research, it also holds camps for kids with NF.

Yes, and the situation has gotten progressively worse since then for both poker and books. Books have gone somewhere, out of the US. We have JJ going around telling all the US Customers to get out while they can and it isn't exactly instilling confidence in people. There will be books, but to what extent and what the landscape will look like in two years is anyones guess.

daneblazer I agree with you. Who knows where it will be two years from now. It sure looks like poker is going to be passed soon here. Maybe SBR could get some sponsorship from some of those possibly. I seen that they have some of the fantasy ones and I am sure they are going to get more maybe. I know jjgold isn't giving much confidence in this and I understand where he is coming from here. I sure think the WTO and the EU is going to have something to say about this also.

I sure hope that we can renew next year by depositing into a sportsbook. **** this fantasy bullshit

SBR should keep the free year and give the staff a raise for dealing with all the whining..nobody lost anything what is there to complain about

Anyone who gambles online and lives in the U.S. should be worried about our freedoms not milking SBR for an extra year. Who gives a shit about an extra year if you can't gamble online anymore? It's not getting easier or cheaper to move money around. The harder and more expensive it gets to service U.S. customers the less books will be willing to keep their doors open to us.

Congrats to guys who haven't renewed since 364 days ago...you have 366 to go before you need to...

I on the other hand (generation F'ed) will be renewing in less than 365 although I just did a few weeks ago also....

    John,

Are you going to get more sponsors for pros in the US or what is the plan here on this? I know you live in the US and I just would like to ask you on what is the plans here? I am hoping you may get a few more fantasy options maybe or maybe you will get a few of the sports books to get on board after all of the stuff what is going on now gets cleared up. I am shocked you didn't wait until March Madness was done before you did this also. That would give you and the rest of the crew on figuring out what to do next.
