the kick wasnt out of his range, it was just shanked
    awful awful kick

brady threw the ball high and behind him, so there was some degree of difficultly
but welker shud have made that catch

Too high? Behind him? Bad pass? WTF? It was right in his hands. All he had to do was corral it and come down with it. Hardly Brady's fault. A pass doesn't have to be right between the numbers of the jersey to be a good pass. It was more than catchable, it was a standard catch.

should he have caught it? yes. was it a perfect pass and unforgivable drop? no. only reason so many people are acting this way is because of chris collinsworth's commentary on the catch, that ridiculous "he catches that 100 times out of 100" crap (which obviously doesn't even make sense, since he didn't catch it). try thinking for yourself and judging the pass for yourself. WRs drop easier passes than this all the time and that's a fact. bad timing but it happens

Just because wr's drop passes easier than that all the time does not make it acceptable. If you look at video of the play, Welker is able to completely put himself in position where the ball is right in his hands and actually between the numbers for a comfortable catch. There is absolutely no reason for him to drop the pass. I'd give him a pass if there were defenders around him or he was hit on the play. But none of which were true. I'm not saying the pass was perfect, but I actually believe the throw was placed in a position it had to with the underneath coverage. If he throws up the seam, Welker could be layed out by a safety. Welker HAS to make that catch. It's for the SB.

Still, the Patriots should have won that game with the next play. Deion Branch (a proven postseason performer and SB MVP) should make that catch. He actually had two drops (one on the last drive to begin the series) that should not be forgiven either. the Patriots simply choked

looks behind him to me. he turns right but has to turn his body back around to the side line. that all points to the pass being behind him.

Don't listen to Collinsworth. Just because he said Welker makes that catch 100/100 times doesn't make it a) true or b) an easy catch.

    Ridiculous.

He had to jump in the air and catch a ball thrown behind him.

Is it catch he could make? Yes. Should make? Not exactly. A coach might say he'd like to see his WR make that catch, but that wasn't a drop. Brady could have done his part with a better throw there.

You're saying a WR is NOT expected to make a wide open catch right in his hands? WTF???

You must be the receivers coach for the Browns

Look at the replay he has it absolutely dead in the middle of both hands, originally the pass may have been a foot behind him so he adjusted a foot to make a perfect catch, hell I coulda brought that in 9 out of 10
