This may be a shock, but I don't read every thread on this site. I know, crazy. Right?

You guys do a solid job and I have no complaints. I'm actually looking forward to trying out the new version tomorrow. The selected functionality is important (like threads I read on SBR, I don't play every game) and without it, I didn't want to use the new version.

    Great news
any chance you can drop the "dead wood" -WSEX
Comparison is one thing but honestly would you ever tell anyone to play there

I would suggest adding a few books but i can't think of any
other than Grande but I doubt they would want a post up forum showing their lines

Bill - just curious about the technology. What did you guys do to make it more scalable? On the front-end, it seems to be the same AJAX setup.

Not a big deal if you can't divulge.

    Thanks.

Wesex...ya maybe we can make the banner a text link you can't click. We do check where they are in the market from time to time. It's interesting they are on top of their odds as a stiff book. They have talked with us recently about renewed payment plans but we aren't holding our breath. I know they sent some small money out this week.
Heritage is coming. Grande would be neat but their lines are pretty vanilla and their post up doesn't change with their other big bettors so not sure how much it would add.

The architecture is very different. We use an archive engine and a new caching engine. We no longer have to build add-onns for every feed we take in or every website we want to support... like sbrcontests. It uses much less server resources per user and per action. We couldn't support 30k users on the old one ad do play by play for all games at once. The new dynamic spreadsheet we are planning couldn't be built with old odds since each set of saved games will be their own set league created by thousands of people. ,The old one was good for its time but we needed to solve the riddle. People liked it because it loaded everything in the background so it appeared fast.

You're right, the frontend is the same as before more or less. The whole architecture is designed better behind the website. The way it was designed before was almost maxed out in how it scaled. If the first 2 servers for the old site supported 1000 users adding a 3rd server might support 1300, a 4th might be 1500 you can see where the problem is, eventually we can't have any more users. We also created a much more highly available solution, loosing a server to hardware failure isn't any issue any more, making updates to the system doesn't take the site offline etc...

We had some problems when we first launched the new site because we were using a lot of new technologies, now we've fixed most of those problems with the architecture and we can start working on adding more features, new books, speed of the updates and data quality issues.

Whitey, question ??? how close to real time would you estimate, the changes are ??? or does that depend on the feed from a particular book ??? thanks

It does depend on the book. Heritage and Pinnacle's new feed will only be seconds off. We'll label them after we assess each one.

Occupy SBR odds:Can we have the classic sbrodds back like they were?

This is straight garbage guys. It's like a hybrid of the new ones now. One of the most aggravating things is when you check a game on say the pointspread screen and you switch to the totals screen you then lose all of your checks. The old version never did that. You could keep the games that were checked.

I fail to see why eveyone wants to change things for the sake of change with they were fine how they were. The new ones are too bulky so you cn't even use them unless you like tooo much crap to look at.

The new ones suck but now they have changed the classic ones too. This blows fellas.

Bill: Hi TS, I'd suggest using a new tab once you have your games selected. We are encouraging feedback so check out the previous posts in this merged thread and let us know what else you'd like. We see a lot of people protest change but we have been beta-ing this for 6 months now asking for feedback. We got very little help on the UI until we started redirecting and forcing folks to take a look. What we need is specifics on what bulky means, and straight garbage. =)

This is more than just an odds screen for users. It does/will powers scoreboards, websites, sportsbook (ours), widgets all over the net.

rod, sorry to be a nuisance, but since you are apparently trying to improve sbr odds, is there a way to reduce the size of the line history, so that the complete line history is visible without needing to scroll up and down?

that is how it was in the old version, you expanded line history and you could see all line movements on the same screen without needing to scroll up and down, on the new one only 3-4 line moves fit in the box and you have to scroll up and down and its harder to get a clear picture

I have requested that one to be added to our to-do list, we can't say the line history panel will be able to accommodate all line changes from every book since some books (5dimes, pinnacle, etc) will send us hundreds of changes for some games, but it's true that some more screen real estate for the line history module would be useful.

A little of column A and a little of column B.

Without the ability to select specific games before today, this was my first chance to use the new platform.

    The positives:

    - I'm not a afraid of change. I actually find this more visually pleasing.

    - The return of DSI as a feed today was good.

    The negatives:

    - Scores are very slow to update. After a while I realized that the new platform was too slow to use for scores. As a 2H and occasional live game player, I was way behind on the games. The scores feed needs to be quicker.

    - Cannot select between spreads and totals when selecting specific games. If you select between the two, it goes to a new window and you have to re-select the games you want to watch. I learned to just look at the "spreads a totals" option, but this needs to be fixed.

Like right now there's 7+ minutes left in the 4Q of the Oregon game according to the Odds. For the records, the game's over.

the old one just seemed much much easier to follow alot of things at once. the scores kinda sucks....its like you are scrolling all day to find a game then another game.....where the old one you could watch 20 scores and 20 lines moving at once.....I feel like I missed everything yesterday!

thats funny about the Oregon game. I noticed that too after the LSU/ALA game I looked on here it said 7:42 left in oregon.....so I found it on tv.....the minute I put it on the TV said final score 34-17 goodnight.

SBR comparing to a paid lines feed (not real time) there is a delay of around 30 secs.some books r quicker then others.Real time is 30 secs to 1min depending the book.Overall guys be very happy that SBR odds is free. The only option that SBR would need and this would be the icing on the cake is "Live In Odds" and "Pop Up Updates"

I like the classic better because it colors the odd boxes. Red for active games, and blue for games that are final.

Any plans on adding the color to the new odds page?

Yes I like the new "classic" page better. It is the best of both odd pages, the old and the new.
