Old man with IQ of 32.3 question.

Billsfan has Verizon as her service.......

    1. Can she use the IPAD2 with that?
    2. What would be monthly cost?

    Thanks

Verizon is my service as well. I actually purchased my iPad2 through Verizon. I didn't initially sign up for 3g service, since we wanted to play around with it at home for awhile. We did get the wifi, so we use this signal at home. While traveling, I simply purchased the internet connection from the hotel. We're going to sign up for 3g now that we know the iPad is something we definitely intend to use quite a bit. Several available plans. We'll probably go with the one around $20 per month.

    They both lack true multi-tasking.

If by basic computer needs, you mean basic smartphone needs, then yes. The bottom line is the iPad is an iPhone without the phone capabilities but with a bigger screen. Not very powerful but very mobile.

So the IPAD does not permit programs running in backround??

    That does not sound right

A lot of apps already support this. With the impending launch of OS4 this summer, multi-tasking will become much easier on both iPhone & iPad.

    Bought an Asus Transformer yesterday.

389, can't complain, I should have it by tomorrow. Almost was going to buy the Motorola Xoom, but didn't like the SD card problems. Was also going to hold out for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet and probably should of, but didn't feel like spending the extra money on that. Figured the Transformer has been selling out like crazy, so if I need to I could re sell it for a little loss and buy something newer if I need to. Who knows if I'll even like the fukkin thing. And probably won't use it much now that most sports that I care about are over. I'll just be using it to watch movies on, and according to comparisons it has a better screen than the Ipad and it has flash, but Ipad are cooler looking and have more apps. meh.

Ngates, tell me if you like the Asus when you get it. I was considering it for a temp tablet myself. There is going to be a 3d tablet from Asus here shortly that I will buy because like you I'm using it more for the occasional movie or late night crap.

    Asus Transformer....Very nice so far.

Can't complain about anything on there as of yet. I can watch my movies, read books, listen music.

The screen is nice, I like the way it feels. I believe the Ipad2 is much thinner than this thing though. But it's not heavy at all.

    Playbook 7" screen = fail.

Otherwise it has the same specs as every other tablet, just more expensive and smaller screen. What's the point?

The playbook has longer battery life, a dual core processor(its way faster than the ipad), its smaller/sleeker(which some people like), high res display that makes the ipad look outdated, multi-tasking capabilities(the ipad cant), it also supports flash(the ipad cant).

so how is the playbook a fail? because of a 7" screen?

it dominates the ipad in almost every single category.

If playbook dominates the iPad, it will be the first RIM product that ever dominated Apple at anything. I was a Blackberry user for years, and once I got my iPhone I couldn't believe how antiquated and terrible my Blackberry really had been compared to the iPhone. Terrible.

I love my Ipad 2. Use it all the time. Its best use for me is while sitting on the couch watching a game. Its great to check in on other scores or look at SBR. Much easier than trying to read it on your phone or dealing with a laptop.
