To "trade and fade" (or "tradin' and fadin'") is an old market makers term for business as usual. Fade means a market maker taking the other side of order flow. Sort of sad that people don't make markets anymore, it's all computers now. All the old trading lingo/lifestyle means nothing anymore.

There is an amazing book Reminiscences of a Stock Operator about the life of a trader (Jesse Livermore) from 1900-1930s ... while it's a good read with a shit-ton of interesting trading lingo its insight on the psychology of risk (and gambling, for that matter) is second to none in any book written since. It's still a heavy seller.

The speculator’s deadly enemies are: Ignorance, greed, fear and hope. All the statue books in the world and all the rule books on all the Exchanges of the earth cannot eliminate these from the human animal.
