*NFL playoffs prediction* Whose hoppin on the wagon with me?!

Well last year I had a crazy prediction of both the Patriots and the Colts going on the road in the divisional rounds and both winning their games... It came true and we beat New England @ home, then we all know what happened from there...

    P2M predicts:

The Jacksonville Jaguars will roll the Steelers in the wild card round... The Chargers will roll the Browns... My crazy prediction is that Jacksonville will go to New England on January 12th/13th and beat the Patriots to ruin their perfect season! The Colts will beat the Bolts in the dome to get revenge and setup a 3rd meeting between themselves and Jags @ the RCA Dome on January 20th! I'm telling you guys, this Jaguars team is for real... Look at teams that have run the ball well on New England(i.e. Colts and Baltimore)... Philly and AJ Feeley just threw all over them and that was another story... Anyways, I really think that the Jags are tough enough to be able to keep up offensively and their defense can definitely step up to the plate and keep Brady in check! Then, after they beat New England, they will be talking all big and bad about how they will finally beat the Colts and they will come in here on the Jan 20th and get their clocks cleaned! Thats my story and I'm stickin to it! Everyone thought I was crazy last year! Let's see how crazy ya'll think I am this year!

Assuming the playoff and wild card rounds play out to seeding, how much do you think New England will be favored by over Jacksonville in the divisional round? 7, 8??? More??? I'll be all over Jacksonville and the points whatever they are getting!

Who else is hoppin on this train with me!?

Jags beating the Patriots. I dunno. The Patriots are firing on all cylinders and playing excellent football. If the Jags do beat the Patriots, that would be a jaw dropper. It's too soon to say, but I can't imagine the linesmaker will have the Jags as an underdog by 20+ points against the Patriots. That would be ridiculous.

At last check, Pats were -11 vs. Indy if that matchup happened, so my guess is that they would be -13 to -13.5 over Jax.

Oh and let me add that I am probably joining you with Jax at +10.5 or more, which it will be.

I agree that NE wins it all, but I think Jax is the only team in the NFL capable of staying within single-digits.

The Colts had their chance at Indy. and I don't think a rematch at NE will be as close. I'm not that concerned with the Pats' lethargic play as of late, as they know they could beat these teams blindfolded, and the one time since the Colts game that they faced a team percieved to be a threat, they blew out Pittsburgh.

That said, the Jags running game looks unstoppable right now, and at the very least, I think Jax will be able to shorten the game by controlling the clock.

pats -11 on the colts in the playoffs?

that is f*ckin g nuts, i'd take the colts as my best bet there

i think the line should be -3 pats pending some injury updates

colts can beat pats even without freeney and marvin but hope the weather isn't too bad

That is absolutely insane! If Jacksonville is getting more than 10, than I am GONNA BE TAKING OUT A LOAN! Taylor and Jones-Drew can and will effectively run the ball on New England's defense! LT, I can see where you are coming from about the Patriots, but I honestly think the Jags will beat the Patriots up if not BEAT THEM and then the Colts will take care of them the following week! If my boys are getting double digits against the Pats, then I will definitely be taking out a loan! The Patriots haven't exactly lit the world on fire in their last 4 or 5 games! They can be beaten and they WILL BE BEATEN! Harrison will be back and Manning has looked pretty sharp the last few weeks... This may be destiny for the Patriots to go 19-0 and win the Super Bowl, but I happen to think that the Jags or the Colts will have their number!

I'm not sure it's quite that cut and dry. Jags are becoming a very public team and they're running attack fits right into NE's weakness of stopping the run, while they're aggressive defense is capable of turning NE's offense over, a necessity for beating the Pats in Foxboro.

10/10.5 would be my guess, and I'd think JAX would be a public dog.

    -3?

NE was -5 at Indy. I don't think you'll see this one in single digits.

Therein lies the problem... it will be.

The Jags are better suited than Indy of winning a playoff game in Foxboro.

Packers beat the Pats in the SB. Mark it down.

if the line was colts +3.5 then i would take colts

that said i can't see the books giving the colts over 10. hell even over 7 is crazy imo. colts got the speed to beat the pats.

    Peyton,

I don't necessarily disagree with you, as I bet Jacksonville at 20-1 to win the Super Bowl! I was just responding to what the line would be, using NE -11 over Indy as a base.

    rjt,

Excellent point on Jax strength vs. NE weakness, and that is actually main reason I bet Jax as 20-1, as I think they are the only team NE won't beat by double-digits (sorry Peyton, that means Indy too in Foxboro). However, a lot of linemaking is perception, so do you realy think the NE line vs. Jax will be exactly the same as vs. Indy? Granted, I personally think Jax has the better cjance to beat NE, but the public square may move the line closer to 13.

    goldengoat,

NE -11 over Indy was already posted in Vegas a few weeks ago. I must say that I have been searching for a revised LVSC number, but with no success so far.

    LT,

If the Jags are getting more than 10, than I'm gonna have to take out a loan... Just like RJT and yourself pointed out, the Jags can run Taylor and Jones-Drew and keep Brady off the field... Also, if the weather is bad, their running game is stout and can put points on the board for them... Maroney/Faulk vs. Jags run D is questionable!? The Patriots line would have to do some serious work because the Jags D has been on a mission lately! These playoffs could end up getting pretty crazy! There sure will be some really intense games! If JAX @ NE is +10.5 or more I will take it for a few thousand if possible! If I were to put up something @ Matchbook, what would be a good line for me to offer if I want Jacksonville ML vs. New England when the time comes around? Thanks in advance!

I don't think Jacksonville could smell the Pats or the Colts. I believe that NE and Indy are a step above everyone.

Also believe SD is better than Jacksonville as well. We'll see good call last season though.

I know its collage but it seems to fit, any one remember a 40 pt under dog stanford when they played usc??????!!! Thats why they tee it up anyone can be beat. pats o7 even if they are the greatest team thats ever played or will ever play(i dont think that is the case I do however think they are high on list maybe at the top?)they can still lose a single game. Baseball,& basketball you have 1 poor outing you still got to lose 3 more games in football single elimination playoffs makes it harder in my opinion for best team to win it all, one bad day you dont have the other 3 games to rebound. Pats are and should be fav to win it all they are the best in nfl so far but that dont mean that someone might have a few more points at the end of 4th qt on a given sunday !!!HELL what was i thinking lets just go ahead give them the damn trophy now it will save alot of time!!!!!!! LOL

Well, obvious at least that that will be the matchup. Can you imagine a sporting event ever having a higher rating than that game (assuming of course that the Pats are undefeated)?

I agree that GB will win, but you know, they'll be a 14-point dog or whatever.

Yea I can.....say America's team playing in the superbowl or maybe the Giants (who have no shot but for tv ratings purposes)

Packers play in superbowl and I am not watching because I know it will be fixed for brett Favre, just like they did for bettis 2 years ago.

See, I would much rather have the Colts +11 at NE than the Colts +5 at home against NE. The Colts are more equipped to win a game in Foxboro, IMO. Not saying they would - hell, I think the Chargers will beat the Colts like they always seem to - but I think it would be near impossible to beat the Pats in a dome. We've already seen mediocre teams go to Foxboro and give NE a decent game, a Colts team with Addai and the superior run defense definitely could keep it close.

I agree Razz, pats have a better chance of getting beat at home or on grass in Arizona. The offense is way too good for dome conditions.

It now looks like Pats -9 for the time being.

    LVSC Power Rankings, Week 16
    December 19, 2007
    By Brad Young

The separation atop the latest Las Vegas Sports Consultants power rankings continues to grow as the playoff picture starts to come into focus. There has been little or no change concerning the top teams with just two weeks remaining before the postseason kicks off.

“The top-five teams have stayed the same with separation starting to happen,” stated LVSC chief operating officer Kenny White. “There still has been plenty of movement concerning the rankings, just not at the top.”

San Diego moved up from eighth to sixth according to LVSC as the Chargers hope to secure the AFC’s third seed in the playoffs. Coach Norv Turner’s team is currently riding a four-game straight up and against the spread winning streak, taking control of the weak AFC West.

“I thought at the start of the year that San Diego would make the playoffs by playing in a weak division,” said White. “The Chargers are starting to bury teams right now, and are playing their best football at the right time.

“San Diego had a power rating of 143.9 back in Week 2, so the Chargers are still below what we thought they were with their current 141.5 rating. I still think they are a good long shot to win it all at 25/1 according to the Hilton. All it takes is to get hot at the right time, look at what Pittsburgh did a couple years ago.”

The LVSC power ratings are the basis of the lines that the company distributes every week to over 90 percent of Nevada’s casinos. By looking at this week’s ratings listed below, New England (150.6) would be a nine-point favorite over San Diego (141.5) before factoring in homefield advantage, weather and injuries.

Tampa Bay is another team that is moving up the rankings as the regular season starts to wind down. The Buccaneers have captured the weak NFC South title, and have gone 5-1 SU and ATS the past six weeks. But when certain teams move up the rankings, other fall a few pegs like Minnesota, Seattle and the New York Giants.

“Tampa Bay has been steady all year and quarterback Jeff Garcia continues to win for the Bucs,” noted White. “Minnesota looked a bit weak with its lackluster Monday night win over Chicago, while the Seahawks and Giants also played poorly.

“New York moved from 10th to 15th when we took a half-point off its ratings with the injury to Jeremy Shockey. The Giants will make the playoffs, but probably won’t go very far.”

With all the focus on the top teams and the looming postseason, it’s also interesting to check out the bottom of the standings. While everyone is paying attention to the New England’s and Green Bay’s of the league, there has been some movement concerning lower-tier teams.

Miami has moved out of the LVSC power rating’s basement compliments of its first win of the season. The Dolphins have been close to winning all year, dropping six games by a field goal. However, things do not get any easier for Miami this weekend with a tough road trip to New England. The Patriots have been installed as a 22-point home ‘chalk’ over the Dolphins, with the total set at 45.

Miami is ranked 31st according to LVSC, just behind the struggling San Francisco 49ers. Atlanta is now the worst team in the league after bumbling through a brutal year that began with the Michael Vick saga and continues after head coach Bobby Petrino bolted to Arkansas.

“Miami is starting to play better while Atlanta is in such disarray,” said White. “If the Falcons were going to do anything, it would have been last week when they were rallying behind a new coach.”

Now let’s check out the Week 16 LVSC power ratings.

Not sure, but GB matches up perfectly with NE, even more so now that Grant has turned into a capable back (who saw that one coming? Kid was garbage at ND). Wood and Harris are the two corners best suited to combat Moss and Welker, and Stallworth's too stupid to be much of a factor, despite his talents. Kampman and KGB will give Light fits. Barnett and Hawk are all over the field, and GB's team speed on defense will negate the short screens and quick outs that make Welker so effective. This is not to say the Patriots won't have success moving the ball and putting points on the board. Their offense is too good to be shut down altogether, but the pressure from Kampan off the edge will force Brady into mistakes, and GB's corners are by far the best tandem in the league.

I don't care about what the numbers say... the Patriots' defense is extremely vulnerable, and Colvin's absence is a huge loss. We know the run defense is shaky, but the secondary is also suspect. Samuel's not a Pro Bowl caliber corner, Hobbs has been terrible, Gay's an ordinary nickel back, and Harrison hasn't been worth a Shit in coverage for five years. Jennings is a top 10 WR, and other than Moss the best deep threat in the game. Driver is one of the best possession receivers in the league. GB's offense is nearly as potent as NE's offense, while their defense is significantly better than the Pats'. The Packers can win a shootout-style game, or they can control the ball with the running game, dominating time of possession and keeping Brady & co. off the field.

Nice call. Hopefully you bought some of that +6550. I got a little +3150 earlier in the season.

I'm sorry, but the Packers will not be winning Super Bowl 42... My Colts may not win the Bowl, but the Packers sure as hell aren't winning it... The Jags, Pats, and Colts would all smoke the Packers... Hell the Bolts with LT running as good as he is might even beat them...

Personally, I don't see the Packers winning in Dallas on January 20th, but you guys obviously see differently... Colts lost to the Bolts and Pats... We will get revenge in the divisional round against SD and revenge in the AFC Champ game against NE! Battle of the C's in the Bowl... Colts vs. Cowboys! Marvin Harrison comin back to get a little action this Sunday against Tenn... Will take some heat off of Wayne and if Marvin has good mobility then look out... If teams are downplaying Reggie Wayne, he will have HUGE GAMES! I know they won't forget about him, but with MH out there, I don't care how healthy he is, he can definitely beat you deep @ any time! Addai, Keith runnin the ball... Sanders who will get Defensive Player of the Year stoppin the run! Diem will be back by the 13th for divisional game... I said right after the game last year that we were gonna repeat and I will stand by that!

I just hope I see double digits for the Jax vs. NE game so I can get a loan out to put on the Jags!

    Jacksonville @ Indy
    Green Bay @ Dallas
    January 20th!

    BET THAT!

I will be riding the jags w/ you dont know if they will win, but definitly have a pretty good shot. Good thing since I dont bet dogs w/ no chance of winning straight up.

Also to watch for in second round is for TB to knock off dallas. anyone on that wagon w/ me.
