Fitting that the NFL season would end on a blatant missed call

Fits right into the theme of 2012-13. One big clusterfvck re: the zebras.

That last play was odd. I was so surprised to not see SF use their final time out there and prepare a little better... for a 4th and goal that literally will decide the Super Bowl, that play happened too fast.

Agree. Weird play call, but it was a pretty obvious hold.

third down was pretty much a disaster too....why throw a pass in heavy traffic three yards short of the goal line?

They don't call this shit at the end of games. They didn't call two weeks ago when 49ers held Roddy White on the 4th down play when Atlanta was driving.

That was a pretty blatant one as well when Ed was offsides. Some iffy calls but good for the Ravens, Ray goes out on top and the self-righteous haters will be hurting tonight.

    Good no call there.

He would've had to tackle Crabtree to get that called. Tough to make a call that would decide the Super Bowl.

The Pistol offense -- like the spread -- is great in the open field, but its kryptonite is goal-to-go situations. Gore would've been better off going out at the 20 vs. almost scoring.

If you really think that had no chance to be caught LOL...A hold doesn't matter when it comes to being caught or not anyway but the ball hit like 2 yards out of bounds with plenty of air under it for a definite chance of catching it.

15 yard penalty should have been called on 3rd and Goal play

Crabtree was nailed hard as fck it was helmet to helmet and a hit on a defenceless reciever.

I'm really surprised Jim Harbaugh didn't run it on all 4 downs. At least the first 3 during that 1st and Goal situation. Could of taken the clock out of it as well... He called a great game... but screwed that last series up. Sh#$ happens. I'd run the 3 headed horse 4 straight times and say... Baltimore... pick which way we're coming! May the best team win. SF trying to throw for the TD.... not a good idea.

I'm a long life Niner fan; we can all complain about a missed call here and there. But in all honesty, we shouldn't. The 49ers had their chances to win this game. I've counted countless opportunities we blew and in the end, you tip your hat to the Ravens and move on. Was there holding on 4th and goal?? Maybe. But why even let it get to that point. We had 4 chances at 10 yards and were not able to convert it into 7. We blame ourselves and tip our hats to the Ravens.

This was a great superbowl with two teams making some major punches. In the end, the ravens early punch was too much for us to come back from.

There were holds by both teams the entire game that went uncalled.

you don't hand over a SB on a silver platter on a ticky tac call in the Super Bowl on a 4th down for a team that put themselves down 22 in the 2nd half!

how dumb are you to post this?

and I have no bias... if Niners scored a TD I was still going to cash my Lock bet on Ravens +4.5

you really want the refs to determine the SB like they did in 2005??? wow

Terrible play calling at the goal line. When you have four downs to work with and one of the best power running backs in the game in Gore .....its a no brainer.

The ball landed out of bounds. Could have the WR caught it? Maybe. The guys are tall and athletic. With that said, it would have taken a hell of an effort to catch the ball.

Watching it live it didn't look like a blatant penalty because both players were jockeying for position. If anything, it looked like the WR pushed the Raven DB to the ground. I didn't watch the replay as I ran to grab more beers to celebrate my victory.

The 49ers had the ball first and goal at the 7. I was wanting them to pass. Had the ran some zone read on second and third down, I think they probably score. Instead, they throw three incomplete passes. I'll question that play calling.

Also, why not call a timeout to think about things on 4th down?

I know, and I'm not one for letting the refs decide the game in the last seconds unless it's blatant.

I'd say that was pretty blatant.
