    Saints -10.5 against Lions LOCK!!

This game will be over at halftime. I missed the opener of -9. I will wait to the 1H lines are posted and take Saints minus whatever and the Over. Saints will have ovr 28 pts at half. Lions are thrilled to just make it to the playoff's and will exit quietly. Drew Brees is licking his chop's throwing against that off the street secondary.

I agree....don't think the Lions shake this one off today anytime soon. If a backup QB goes for 6 tds and 500 yards in snow/cold then what is Brees going to do? The Saints were kind of flat in that last game vs the Lions and still won by 14.

Who did the Lions spend most of the practice week preparing for this past week?

I actually know the answer to that already. Green Bay is the wrong answer BTW.

This line will steam all week.

And fall like a brick on gameday.

Then they are stupid and deserve to get blown out. I thought they got rid of Millen? Green Bay is a division opponent, so game planning a little easier I would think? Are you saying they thought they would lose or they wanted to play at N.O.?

Exactly ... why wouldnt they try their damnedest to beat GB. They are gonna give up 50+ to Brees and company regardless the amount of prep time they put in.

The only reason the line will drop next Saturday is that it will be at 14 and enough guys that got 9 or ten will buy back

When you know you are in the playoffs as a wild card and play again on Saturday it is only logical that you game plan for the opportunity you can create.

Not the one you hope falls into your lap. Instead of planning for Green Bay and the winner of the Dallas/New York game you cut the mustard and plan for the one you can predict based upon your own work. Simple math. Would you rather have to plan for three opponents or one.

Quite simply put the smartest thing to do was to spend the week game planning for New Orleans.

Smart football. Does not mean they win. It simply means they come prepared. Instead of taking five days to prepare they have taken 10.

So the coaches say to the team, guys, you are probably goingn to lose to GB anyway, so lets just plan to play N.O.? Yes, if you win we get a better opponent, but come on, you guys think you can beat the GB backups? This should not, did not and in any other similar scenario will not happen. It's not math brah, it's people and it's football.

Well brother if you think that a game featuring 1100 yards of offense in the snow and wind was legit, I will leave you to that.

It was flag football at its best featuring two teams with other agendas. No prep time was put into it by the Lions after Tuesday. Saturday review and a light walk through was just about it.

Trying to help a few folks out by pointing it out here.

I know you are probably not familiar with me but I have mentioned several times this year that I get a lot of information regarding the Lions and the Seattle Seahawks. I have some ties with the media in those cities and get some information that others may not.

The only guarantee that there was in this whole scenario is that if the Lion's lost they would play the Saints.
They already have had them once this year so prep is a whole lot easier than preparing for the likely alternative in the Giants. They have not played them in two years. Having to prep for that zone pressure rush of the Giants is a little more than anyone would want to do in five days.

There is a whole lot more going on in the world of football than we can even consider. Boggles my mind sometimes, even after 25 years of handicapping.

One thing is certain. If I get something half decent I always pass it on. Most of the time it is met with the same old "you are full of shit" response. There are a few here who know me a bit better than that.

Read post 13 in this one. I knew a bit about this last week.

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/nfl-bettin...nfl-gurus.html

Also that kid Joique Belll they signed to replace Smith if his ankle was no good, was signed off of the New Orleans practice squad. He apparently was "not game ready."

That is a crock of shit. They signed him to impersonate Darrin Sproles in practice. That was his positon on the practice squad for the Saints.

Now all of this may not mean shit against the Saints. The only two things I am hoping posters get out of this are.

    1. That game yesterday was bullshit and should not be used to influence your handicapping for anything.
    2. The Lions will be game plan ready and practice ready for the Saints.

That is it. I have just started work on the game. Typically I do not spend a ton of time on the playoffs as I have started my NCAABB efforts for the season.

I am using the SBR spreadsheet for those this year. If anyone wants a well researched play or two, have a look sometime.

How many points you want to bet that the Saints don't score 50 on the Lions?

The line won't be 14 either unless a big injury occurs.

Anything can happen in the playoffs.

With that being said I think the Saints will blowout this overrated Lions team. But re-read what I first said...

good post man. if the Lions prepared for the Saints then they deserve to get blown out. Coach would have to be a fukkin idiot to do that . IF the Lions had beaten Green Bay they wouldn't have to play at New Orleans!!!!!

Lions ML. If not for insane penalties a few weeks ago, Detroit wins that game straight up. 3x Offensive PI calls on Nate Burleson totaling over 100 yards negated and 45 yards the other way! Lions will walk through the Superdome slaughter house and come out with Sean Paytons head in hand. Cant wait.

You're on crystal meth.....Detroit went all out to beat GBs scrubs and couldn't get it done. They have no shot this weekend. All the dumba$$ penalties on Detroit vs the Saints last time was no fluke....they do the same $hit every weekend just like the Raiders. A talented but undisciplined & poorly coached team unlike the Saints. They were down 38-34 at their own 7 on Sunday with 5:01 left and PASSED EVERY PLAY and scored with 2:39 left. Why not run on every 1st down and eat some clock...Flynn was kicking their a$$ all day long and they were in 4 down mode anyway. GBs 3rd string D wasn't stopping Stafford so they could've scored as slow or fast as they wanted. $hit coaching and it gets them blown out this weekend. You don't go shotgun on 2nd/2 like Detroit and throw 50x to beat the Saints. They own those kind of flag football games...ESP AT HOME!!

Who would be shocked? Everyone goes up-n-down the field on Detroit. They wouldn't even be in the playoffs except Romo & the Raiders dumba$$ coach gifted them 2 games when they were obviously beaten. The way to beat New Orleans is to control the clock and play good defense....Detroit does neither well.

Touche-I think Billy & the 4th & stupid poster are drinking some pretty strange KOOLAID(ala jonestown).
The idea that Detroit would basically throw a game to a division rival & reigning sb champs to draw the devil you already know is ridiculous. After all the devil you know is still the devil.
    Saints now -11 at bet365

I do not recall anyone saying Detroit threw a game. I said they game planned for their next opponent. One they already know and spent a full 10 days practicing for earlier in the year. They have now spent almost 18 days in total this year working on New Orleans in practice.

Vs. the 4.5 they would have had working for the Giants.

Let me dumb it down for you.

    18>4.5.

Dumb move to a dumb guy. Smart like a fox if you ask me.

You no capping headline reading fools are all the same. So drunk on Drew Brees love juice you can't even begin to consider that someone would rather face an opponent they are prepared for rather than another one with little prep time. They were even savvy enough to raid the New Orleans practice squad for a guy to help them game plan. Real fukkin stupid.

And speaking of running up and down the field on their opponent. I have attached the drive chart from the earlier game between the two. Click on the radio buttons for each quarter.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/drivechart?gameId=311204018

Will you please shove that line a little higher for me. You and the other Joe Publics.

    Billy,

Sorry but your whole argument and the reasoning behind it is totally RIDICULOUS! If Detroit didn't care about beating GB then why did the starters go so hard for the entire game? Hell Pettigrew almost got snapped in two out there in the 2nd half. Detroit went all out and anyone that watched the game saw that. Why would anyone prefer to play Brees in the Superdome in the 1st round? Detroit and savvy in the same sentence? The same team that commits 10 dumba$$ penalties every week and could've easily taken the GB game if the coach had half a fcn brain. They're down 38-34 against GBs 3rd string D from their own 7 with 5:01 left. They threw downfield every time and score leaving Flynn/GB 2:39 left. If they just run the ball once on the 1st downs they win the game....they're in 4 down mode anyway and nobody was covering any of their receivers. They suck...they're a undisciplined and poorly coached team with an overrated defense. They give Stafford no help whatsover w/a running game so he'll turn it over...thats what happens when you're forced to throw it 50 times. GL with your beatdown. Myself and Joe Public whipped a$$ with the Giants.....sharps/squares....thats all bull$hit...its just choosing the right side and thats New Orleans.

Dude. It is not an argument. Read the thread. It is what they did. Fact. Period. End of story.

That is straight from someone who attended practice.

I did not present it as an argument. I would have had to deal with more than the likes of you.

You keep on going on and on about that game. No one including either one of those two teams gave a half a **** about it. Before or after.

During is another story. Players will always go hard during a game. Prepared or unprepared.

You have not given your side of the story much more than your opinion. New Orleans is gonna beat the shit out of Detroit. I get it.

    Carry on.

A)That's the inference of game planning N.O. before playing at GB.It's only smart if you lose to GB if not it's stupid.
B)if your going to take 5 days & gameplan for your next opponent you gameplan for the one team you have not played & is your most likely opponent if you take care of your businesss at GB.
C)if you can't beat Flynn w/o jennings & Starks & you can't score on your final drive on a defence w/o Woodson or Mathews your in trouble on the road vs N.O.
D)I did my part to drive up the line I bet N.O. -10

Not an argument Fonz just a bunch of guys talking football. It is all good and I do respect any facts presented. Opinions are certainly welcome as well.

I have not even made a play yet. Nor am I certain I will. It will be on my spreadsheet if I do but I am hoping to see more Saints money and a line of 13.

As there is no urgency to decide I will be able to see the practice reports throughout the week and hopefully the inactives before the game. Their is going to be some buyback on the line at some point I just gotta keep my eye on it.

    Good Luck with your play.

Who knows Billy may hit....stranger things have happened. I don't like to lay more than a TD in the NFL and haven't done it here yet. I just don't see getting that cocky about backing an undisciplined and poorly constructed team. I see it as they laid it all out on the line to finally beat GB in Lambeau and failed. NO also has poured it on like 07 Belichick all year. I've recently had a 18-4 run in the NFL (all posted on here) so we'll see whats up & then come find me because I'll be here either way.

Hey there is no doubt you know your business, don't get me wrong. And if you lose I will be the last guy in the world to come in here and say anything.

Just talking football here and sharing what I know.

No doubt New Orleans is tough and highly under rated defensively in my mind. I don't think the Lions can beat them, that is not a consideration. I will make a play on Detroit if I get the right reports and a good number. Hoping for 13 but will settle for anything over 11.

Did you know that the Saints are rated number 1 and number 2 (actually tied for first with.......the Lions) in 3rd down conversions on offense and defense respectively. That is the mark of a great team.

Again just sharing a practice report and stating that they will be prepared.

I think i heard this same story last year when NO went to seattle.

Not a person in their right mind gave the seahawks a snowballs chance in hell and we all seen what happened. Can NO blow the doors off of detroit?

Yes ofc they can but its the playoffs and its the NFL and anything can happen.

It's not the same situation.N.O. was beat up road favorite that seattle (who won there way into the playoffs)jumped on.N.O.--This year N.O. is the healthy home favorite & Detroit (as much Billy claims they'll be prepared)are not exactly playing inspired ball.
